Pitt Meadows Plumbing and Mechanical Systems has been a leader in the industry for over 40 years. We specialize in prefabrication, modular systems and installation of large-scale residential, commercial, institutional, educational, and medical design-build plumbing and mechanical projects.

We are currently looking for a BIM Designer – HVAC Specialist to join our team at our Main Office in Maple Ridge.

This position will also assist with developing and maintaining PMP’s modelling and fabrication standards and will work closely with sheet metal fabricators to create fabrication-ready workflows and documentation.

Reporting to the BIM Manager, the BIM Designer – HVAC Specialist will design, model, and coordinate HVAC systems using Revit and related tools to support prefabrication and installation across healthcare, residential, institutional, and commercial projects.

Specifically, the
BIM Designer – HVAC Specialist will:

  • Model HVAC and ventilation systems in Revit for fabrication and installation, ensuring accuracy, constructability, and alignment with project deadlines.

  • Develop and maintain BIM standards, modelling rules, templates, and documentation practices for HVAC systems.

  • Work directly with sheet metal fabricators to create fabrication workflows, fabrication orders, and digital packages that support shop production.

  • Build and maintain standardized content libraries and modelling protocols to support consistent, high-quality deliverables.

  • Coordinate mechanical models with duct sizing based on SMACNA and with other disciplines (plumbing, hydronic, electrical, structural, architectural).

  • Review and adjust routing to address clashes, design conflicts, and constructability requirements.

  • Participate in BIM coordination meetings and clearly communicate HVAC design requirements, changes, and impacts.

  • Support project managers, site teams, and fabrication personnel with timely modelling updates and clear, accurate information.

  • Conduct site visits to verify as-built conditions and assess the accuracy and usability of models for installation and prefabrication tasks.

  • Explore new software tools, plugins, and digital approaches to improve modelling and fabrication efficiency.

  • Contribute to QA/QC documentation and digital traceability standards related to mechanical models.

  • Maintain cooperative working relationships across teams and provide support wherever required.

  • Perform other duties as required to support PMP’s BIM and fabrication operations.

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of experience modelling HVAC and ventilation systems in Revit.

  • Minimum 5 years of overall experience in the mechanical construction industry.

  • At least 3 years of practical sheet metal fabrication or installation experience is required.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical system installation, coordination, and prefabrication processes.

  • Experience with Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD required; familiarity with sheet metal fabrication workflows in Revit is an asset.

  • Experience with Trimble and digital layout tools preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.

  • Education in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Building Systems, HVAC Technology, or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Trade background (Sheet Metal Worker) considered a strong asset.

Compensation:$70,000 to $90,000/year + 5% RRSP + Full Benefits Package (100% Company-Paid) + Life Insurance + AD&D + LTD.
