Project Controls Coordinator
About the role
Professional Summary
The Project Controls Coordinator I provides advanced cost control support, financial coordination, and procurement administration for multiple concurrent capital infrastructure projects. Operating within an industrial and energy-focused environment, this role serves as the primary point of contact for the end-to-end requisition life cycle within the corporate Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) architecture. The successful candidate will analyze actual expenditures against project tracking matrices, facilitate cross-functional alignment between engineering, supply chain, and accounts payable, and ensure high data integrity across all project financial workflows without direct forecasting responsibilities.
Core Responsibilities
Execute Procurement Workflows: Act as the single point of contact for the accurate creation, submission, and tracking of requisitions, purchase orders (POs), and change orders within the Oracle Financials system. Analyze and Report Financial Data: Monitor data across Oracle Financials, Power BI, SharePoint, and Excel to extract actionable insights and provide stakeholders with precise visibility into requisition status and contract lifecycles. Facilitate Cross-Functional Liaison: Partner closely with Project Controls Advisors, Supply Chain Management, Execution and Engineering Leads, and Accounts Payable to manage the receipt of services and validate invoices, optimizing overall cash-flow efficiency. Manage Contract Revisions: Mitigate funding deficits by collaborating with project leadership to initiate timely change orders, contract amendments, and supplemental purchase authorizations. Ensure Operational Autonomy: Manage competing priorities across multiple complex project pipelines simultaneously, utilizing self-directed initiative to resolve bottlenecks with minimal supervision. Communicate Strategic Metrics: Present clear, concise analytical updates regarding procurement status and project actuals to both technical engineering leads and non-technical business stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
Professional Experience: Minimum of three (3) years of dedicated experience supporting purchase order administration, financial coordination, or cost tracking within large-scale engineering and construction capital projects. Technical Systems Proficiency: Demonstrated experience utilizing robust ERP platforms (e.g., Oracle Cloud, SAP, Maximo, or Ariba) to execute institutional procurement or project controls workflows. Candidates relying solely on Microsoft Excel for data management will not meet baseline technical requirements. Methodological Knowledge: Familiarity with industry best practices for project cost tracking, contract management, and downstream accounts payable reconciliation. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. An equivalent combination of post-secondary diplomas and substantial verified industry experience will be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Industry Specialization: Prior experience executing project controls within heavy industrial, energy infrastructure, or oil and gas corporate environments. Advanced ERP Expertise: Direct operational mastery of Oracle Cloud Financials and Power BI data visualization software. End-to-End Lifecycle Execution: Proven mastery of the full purchase cycle from initial requisitioning through to field execution tracking and final closeout auditing.
