Job Summary The Staff Accountant is responsible for monthly accounting tasks, including journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting. This role drives process improvements, partners with stakeholders and business units in Specialty Health, supports internal audits (SOX), and assists with team deliverables. Collaboration with third-party provider (MVT) is required to resolve issues and enhance processes.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze SAP billing transactions to ensure data integrity, accuracy, and correct account posting.
  • Validate contractual billing prices and update billing triggers in SAP as needed.
  • Collaborate with the third-party service provider to maintain billing accuracy and meet deadlines.
  • Analyze monthly revenue and book necessary accruals.
  • Review financial statements and key reports before close; provide performance commentary.
  • Prepare and review recurring journal entries (e.g., bank, allocations, prepaids, depreciation).
  • Reconcile Patient Program credit cards and prepare journal entries.
  • Liaise with Business Key Account Managers to ensure all billable transactions are properly captured in SAP.
  • Review expenditures to ensure they are properly coded in the general ledger (GL), and analyze the drivers and impacts of month-over-month fluctuations.
  • Review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the third-party provider for assigned accounts and business units; provide support and clarification as needed.
  • Identify and implement process improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and accounting policies (SOX).
  • Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions.
  • Participate in monthly financial statement reviews, support analysis, and provide backup for month-over-month variances; prepare detailed ad-hoc analysis reports.
  • Manage Accounts Receivable, coordinate with Key Account Managers and external clients to resolve disputes, and ensure aging is within BU thresholds.

General Responsibilities

  • Communicate with internal and external business partners to resolve pending issues, build positive relationships and improve processes.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits as needed.
  • Lead, coach, and guide the business users to achieve desired results.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce with a major in accounting. CPA designation required; candidates with hands-on experience and final stage of CPA education will be considered.
  • Minimum 3-5 years hand-on experience in business unit accounting. Experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable and project accounting is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of billing processes and associated SAP functionalities. Experience with SAP Project and SD modules is a strong asset.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal, problem solving and organizational skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-based, and collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrates ownership of responsibilities with a confidence and, independence.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple deadlines.
