About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated, professional, and team-oriented Payroll Administrator to join our growing Accounting team in our Halifax, NS office. Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager, this new role has been added as we expand our team and will work collaboratively with colleagues in both Accounting and Human Resources to support multiple payrolls across our organization.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage completion and review of all employee timesheets;

  • Prepare, review and distribute weekly employee utilization reports;

  • Maintain vacation and overtime schedules for all employees;

  • Manage data entry in 3rd party payroll system;

  • Administer changes to employee master data;

  • Prepare and upload bi-weekly payroll file for salaried and hourly employees;

  • Maintain and update employee benefit information;

  • Prepare period end payroll postings and payroll reconciliations; and

  • Other duties as required.

Your Capabilities and Credentials:

  • Post-secondary education in business administration or accounting;

  • 5 - 7 years experience in a payroll-focused role, previous experience in a professional services environment is a strong asset;

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) considered a strong asset;

  • Experience with Canadian multi-provincial payroll requirements;

  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and practice discretion in interactions and dealings with others;

  • Superior attention to detail;

  • Ability to learn new processes quickly;

  • Highly organized;

  • Ability to consistently meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment; and

  • Strong technical proficiency; intermediate level in MS Office Suite including Excel and Word are essential.
