M365 System Administrator $75,000 - $90,000 per year Ottawa (Onsite)
Your New Company Our client is a well-established national organization with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional services and support to its employees and stakeholders. As part of an ongoing modernization of its technology environment, the organization is investing in its Microsoft 365 ecosystem and is seeking a hands-on Systems Administrator to support and enhance its modern workplace infrastructure.
Your New Role As a Systems Administrator – Microsoft 365, you will serve as a key technical resource responsible for administering, maintaining, supporting, and improving the organization's Microsoft 365 environment. This role combines Microsoft 365 platform administration with advanced end-user support and operational systems management. You will work closely with infrastructure, security, and support teams to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of Microsoft 365 services while providing escalation support for complex user and device-related issues. Key responsibilities include: Administering the Microsoft 365 tenant, including licensing, user lifecycle management, group management, and service monitoring. Managing Microsoft Entra ID, including MFA, Conditional Access, SSO, RBAC, identity governance, and authentication services. Supporting and administering Microsoft Intune, Endpoint Manager, Windows Autopilot, application deployment, compliance policies, and device management. Managing Windows endpoints, security policies, BitLocker, Defender, and modern device management solutions. Acting as an escalation point for Microsoft 365, identity, licensing, mail, Teams, and endpoint-related issues. Monitoring service health, investigating incidents, reviewing audit logs, and resolving complex technical issues. Collaborating with cybersecurity, networking, and infrastructure teams on operational initiatives and projects. Supporting security best practices across the Microsoft ecosystem and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Creating and maintaining technical documentation, procedures, and knowledge base articles.
What You'll Need to Succeed 3+ years of experience in Systems Administration, Microsoft 365 Administration, or a similar technical support/infrastructure role. Hands-on administration experience with: Microsoft 365 Admin Centre Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD) Conditional Access Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Single Sign-On (SSO) Microsoft Intune / Endpoint Manager Windows Autopilot Microsoft Defender and endpoint security solutions Experience administering Microsoft 365 tenants beyond basic account management, including troubleshooting, policy management, security administration, licensing, and platform configuration. Strong troubleshooting experience across Microsoft 365 services, identity platforms, endpoint management, and Windows environments. Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to support users across a range of technical abilities. Preferred Experience with Exchange Online administration, mail flow, connectors, hybrid environments, and PowerShell. Experience administering Microsoft Teams, Teams Phone, Teams Rooms, and governance policies. Experience with SharePoint Online and OneDrive administration. Exposure to Microsoft Purview, retention policies, DLP, or compliance initiatives. PowerShell scripting and automation experience. Microsoft certifications such as MS-102, MD-102, SC-300, or AZ-104. ITIL knowledge and experience working within structured IT operational environments.
