Intermediate Analyst, Finance & Accounting

Who We Are Bluevale Capital is a boutique, real estate private equity firm that specializes in value-add, development and special situational multi-residential projects. Over the past two years, the firm has completed over $250M of transactions with the intention of creating a $1B+ real estate fund over the next 2-3 years. By working with government leaders, and by partnering with our sponsors and lenders, the company's vision is to create 10,000+ residential units with a focus on tackling the affordable housing crisis in North America. The Role | Analyst, Finance & Accounting As an Intermediate Analyst, Finance & Accounting you will take meaningful ownership across the accounting and reporting cycle for a growing multi-entity real estate portfolio. Reporting directly to the Director, Finance, this role will allow high levels of exposure to daily operations at a dynamic & growing Private Equity Firm, and you will have lots of opportunities to develop hands-on skills in many areas of the business. Given that this is a dynamic environment, you must be adaptive in your approach and be able to work independently under limited supervision. A passion for real estate is a must!
What You'll Do: Accounting & Reporting Support
- Own the month-end close cycle for a portfolio of property-level entities, including preparation of adjusting journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and supporting schedules.
- Prepare monthly financial statements at the building/property level and assist in quarterly consolidation across the full corporate entity structure.
- Prepare and maintain working papers for external accountants and senior management, ensuring audit-readiness of all supporting documentation.
- Identify and investigate financial variances against budget and prior period, providing written commentary for management review. Bank & General Ledger Reconciliations
- Perform and review bank reconciliations for property and corporate bank accounts across multiple entities.
- Maintain GL integrity through regular account reconciliations, with a focus on tenant AR, intercompany accounts, and GST/HST accounts.
- Identify and flag intercompany imbalances as part of the quarterly consolidation and elimination process.
- Apply correct GL coding to transactions per the Yardi chart of accounts across revenue, operating expenses, and below-the-line items. Process Improvement & Team Collaboration
- Assist in implementing accounting process improvements and automation initiatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve accounting-related questions and drive insights. Accounts Payable
- Assist with the full AP cycle: review and code vendor invoices, obtain appropriate approvals, process payments, and maintain vendor records.
- Process employee expense reports and review corporate card transactions, ensuring correct GL coding and policy compliance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree, majoring in Business, Finance or Accounting
- Minimum 2-4 years practical experience with full-cycle accounting, expense reporting, and journal entries
- CPA PEP in progress; CFE completed or eligible to write is strongly preferred
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles (GAAP), including journal entries, accruals, and prepaids
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong skills in Excel
- Attention to Detail: Consistently produces high-quality work, incredibly detail-oriented, and investigates discrepancies with curiosity.
- High level of professionalism and responsiveness in all interactions with vendors, employees, and other stakeholders
- Solution oriented approach with a growth mindset
- Strong communication skills, proactively discussing challenges with the team and Managing Director
- Ownership Mentality: Takes full responsibility for outcomes, continuously seeks improvements, and ensures timely, high-quality deliverables
