About the role
Village Ice Cream is on an exciting journey to find two part-time seasonal Bakers to assist with inclusion production at our Victoria Park location! We’re looking for someone who is collaborative, efficient, and has a passion for desserts and pastry. As a Baker, you will produce high volumes of ice cream inclusions such as cakes, cookies, brownies and more! In any given week, Bakers are working alongside our Bakery Manager baking and chopping inclusions that will be distributed amongst all six of our shop locations, as well as getting early previews and tastes of upcoming seasonal flavours. As Baker with Village Ice Cream, you will:
- Independently follow recipes and work with a small team to produce between 160kg-420kgs of inclusions every week.
- Prepare ingredients and produce house-made bases, and inclusions such as brownies, cookies, marshmallows, caramel sauces, and praline.
- Accurately pack and label inventory of inclusion production that will be delivered out to our other 5 shop locations.
- Ensure inclusion consistency in size and quality.
- Independently operate commercial ovens, commercial mixers, and a commercial chopping machine.
- Thoughtfully complete daily cleaning tasks to ensure all areas of the kitchen are clean and organized.
- Follow Company policies as well as proper food health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.

- Have at least one (1) year of baking experience.

- Are willing to learn and follow instructions with precision as well as give great attention to detail.
- Can be on your feet for up to eight hours and can lift and pull 50lbs repeatedly.
Availability:
- Must be available to work up to 24 hours per week.
- No planned absences unless discussed and agreed upon prior to hiring.
- Please note that Village Ice Cream is a weather dependent business and this can result in some variance to scheduling based on demand and business needs.
- Seasonal contracts expire October 30. From September 1 – October 30 hours may vary based on weather and demand.
Our compensation offer for this role includes:
- $17.00/hour + tips starting wage with incremental, hour-based raises.
