About the role
The Automation Specialist designs and programs automated systems and then takes part in their installation directly at the client’s site. This role combines project preparation with hands-on fieldwork, providing a stimulating and rewarding experience at every stage. Travel represents approximately one-third of the time, typically in two-week stays, mainly across North America, offering a unique opportunity to see projects come to life while continuously developing new skills.
Key Responsbilities
- Design and program automated systems (simple or complex) using various types of PLCs and Human-Machine Interfaces (HMIs), while adhering to industry standards and best practices.
- Install and troubleshoot automated systems.
- Participate in system commissioning at the client’s site.
- Occasionally perform electrical engineering design.
- Prepare technical documentation related to the maintenance of automated systems.
- Develop tools related to robotics and artificial intelligence to improve productivity in manufacturing plants.
- Ensure that sold systems are functional in production environments and meet performance guarantees as well as client expectations.
Education and Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, DEC in Industrial Electronics or Electrical Engineering with a specialization in automation, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Suitable for both entry-level and experienced candidates seeking a challenge that combines technical design and programming with hands-on fieldwork.
- Availability to travel about one-third of the time, in two-week stays.
- Valid passport for international travel.
Desired Profile
- Proficiency with Rockwell (Allen-Bradley) products; knowledge of Siemens products is an asset.
- Strong communication skills in both French and English, spoken and written.
- Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills.
