We're seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented and experienced Sr. Analyst, Financial Reporting and Tax to join our Calgary team and play a critical role in driving financial strategy, compliance, and operational excellence.

The Sr. Analyst, Financial Reporting and Tax oversees tax compliance within the Business Unit and reports to the Manager, Operations. The position is accountable to the Business Unit Vice President and Corporate Vice President, Finance. This role collaborates with the tax team members to ensure the company meets tax reporting and compliance requirements in multiple jurisdictions (UK, Ireland, Sweden, Dominican Republic) in addition to supporting strategic business initiatives across domestic and international markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial and tax guidance for contracts, regulatory issues, and strategic initiatives.

  • Ensure compliance with domestic and international tax laws, coordinating with external advisors and regulatory authorities for multiple branches/entities.

  • Support the establishment and accounting administration of offshore entities, ensuring compliance with global financial and legal requirements.

  • Confirm accuracy of records and documents related to tax reporting and preparations.

  • Conduct research on tax compliance issues, interpret changes and assess their impact on the company.

  • Assist with insurance procurement and claims management to ensure optimal risk coverage.

  • Support tax audits, respond to notices, and provide documentation to tax authorities in a timely manner.

  • Assist with Scientific Research & Experimental Developments submissions, in multiple jurisdictions, including preparation and supporting working papers.

  • Maintain knowledge with respect to technical tax issues and accounting standards.

  • Coordinate with third-party accounting service providers to ensure statutory financial statements are prepared and filed accurately and on time.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax provisions and working papers as required.

  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly to maintain accurate financial records.

  • Monitor compliance with local regulatory requirements for entity-level reporting.

  • Assist in indirect tax planning, compliance strategies, and process automation.

  • Liaise with external auditors during statutory audits.

  • Prepare and review account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and other balance sheet accounts.

What We’re Looking For

  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (e.g. commerce, business).
  • Professional accreditation such as CPA or Chartered Accountant.
  • 6+ years of tax accounting experience (preferably in mid – large size firms).
  • Public accounting and corporate tax experience are highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills; BST 11 or similar systems is a plus.
  • Solid technical knowledge of GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Proven ability to manage projects and deliver results within the deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, organization and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience working with multiple entities, international locations and foreign currencies.
