The Ministry of Community Safety has an exciting career opportunity for a self-confident, motivated Teacher Therapist to be part of a team of professionals that provide instruction and counsel to male adult offenders in the Saskatoon Correctional Centre.
Working in an environment that is challenging, innovative and supportive, you will deliver curriculum and competency-based programming in a variety of subject areas. We are seeking a creative, innovative and flexible candidate who has a background in special education, adult learning and basic literacy including English as a second language. Programming and experience within culturally diverse settings would be a definite asset.
The successful candidate must have knowledge of educational principles, theories and preferred practices with a focus on core curriculum and Common Essential Learning, particularly as it relates to literacy; a variety of individualized instructional methods, techniques and approaches; multi-cultural beliefs, values and perspectives; and individual and group dynamics and behavior management as it applies to static and dynamic security.
You will also be required to possess a Bachelor of Education degree and a valid Saskatchewan Professional "A" Teaching Certificate.
To be successful in this position you must model and demonstrate a commitment to the Ministry's mandate to provide a fair justice system that upholds the law and protects the rights of all individuals in Saskatchewan; promotes safe and secure communities; and provides legal and justice policy advice to assist government.
