Position Summary

Black & McDonald’s Saskatchewan Fabrication team is growing! If you are committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you. The Project Coordinator – Pipe Fabrication is responsible for supporting the Project Manager in the planning, execution, and completion of pressure piping fabrication projects. This includes managing costs, schedules, and quality, while ensuring strict compliance with pressure piping codes (e.g., ASME B31.1, B31.3) and safety standards. The coordinator will maintain strong relationships with trades, subcontractors, and clients, and keep the Project Manager informed of progress, issues, and discrepancies that could impact project delivery.

Duties & Responsibilities (including, but not limited to)

  • Assist the Project Manager to ensure project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards are in accordance with company policy and contract specifications are met.
  • Pressure Piping Expertise: Oversee and coordinate all aspects of pressure piping fabrication projects, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., ASME, CSA, TSASK).
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all activities comply with company health, safety, and environmental policies, and pressure piping safety standards.
  • Scheduling & Resource Planning: Develop and monitor fabrication schedules, ensuring timely delivery and efficient resource allocation for pressure piping projects.
  • Quality Assurance: Assist in implement and maintain quality control programs specific to pressure piping fabrication, including inspection, testing, and documentation of welds and pipe assemblies.
  • Reporting: Prepare and issue progress reports and schedules to clients and management, highlighting milestones, issues, and corrective actions.
  • Procurement: Purchase supplies and materials required for pressure piping fabrication, ensuring all items meet project specifications and regulatory requirements
  • Client & Vendor Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors, acting as a key point of contact for pressure piping projects.
  • Document Control: Maintain accurate project documentation, including piping ISO drawings, fabrication records, and compliance certificates.
  • Estimating & Cost Control: Prepare detailed estimates and cost analyses for pressure piping fabrication, including materials, labor, and equipment. Advise on tendering procedures and conduct negotiations as needed.

Education & Skill Requirements

  • Engineering Degree or Technical Diploma.
  • 2-3years’ experience within a Project Coordinator role, with direct experience in pressure piping fabrication (must have managed or coordinated pressure piping projects).
  • Pressure Piping Knowledge: Demonstrated experience in pressure piping fabrication, including familiarity with codes, inspection, and testing requirements.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret piping design drawings, isometrics, and specifications; proficiency in scheduling and estimating software (e.g., AccuBid, JD Edwards). Experienced with scheduling programs is an asset.
  • Competency in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Dispute resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Willing and able to travel within the province.
  • Valid class 5driver’slicense with clean driving record.
  • Obtaining Reliability Status security clearance will be a condition of employment.
