Role:
The Senior Dispatch Supervisor provides leadership and guidance to Dispatch Supervisors and their driver teams, ensuring efficient, customer-focused last-mile delivery operations. This role emphasizes people management, performance accountability, and operational consistency. The Senior Dispatch Supervisor plays a critical role in coaching supervisors, resolving escalations, and fostering a high-performance culture across the dispatch and delivery teams.
Role Responsibilities:
Leadership & People Management
- Lead and mentor Dispatch Supervisors, ensuring they effectively manage their driver teams.
- Conduct regular check-ins and performance reviews with supervisors, coaching them on leadership and problem-solving.
- Drive accountability across teams to meet service, safety, and performance standards.
- Support the development of supervisors through training and hands-on leadership guidance.
Operational Oversight
- Oversee scheduling, routing, and dispatch activities through supervisors, ensuring timely and cost-effective deliveries.
- Monitor team performance metrics (on-time delivery, safety, customer satisfaction) and guide supervisors in making improvements.
- Serve as the escalation point for complex driver issues, disputes, or customer complaints.
- Collaborate with fleet/operations management to align daily execution with company goals.
Communication & Reporting
- Provide regular updates on team performance, challenges, and improvement opportunities to senior leadership.
- Ensure supervisors clearly communicate expectations, priorities, and operational changes to drivers.
- Foster open communication between supervisors, drivers, and management to maintain alignment and accountability.
Problem-Solving & Crisis Management
- Lead supervisors in addressing unexpected challenges (vehicle breakdowns, route disruptions, emergencies).
- Implement contingency plans to minimize customer impact and maintain service levels.
Requirements:
- Proven experience supervising or leading dispatch and driver teams.
- Strong coaching and mentoring abilities with a track record of developing frontline leaders.
- Ability to manage performance, hold teams accountable, and resolve conflicts effectively.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the team.
- Skilled at balancing operational priorities with people leadership.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, especially under pressure.
- Ability to analyze team performance data and implement improvement strategies.
- Knowledge of dispatch operations, delivery logistics, or fleet management preferred.
