Your Opportunity:

Correctional Health Services at the Calgary Remand Centre (CRC) is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Manager to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, and patient-centered healthcare services within a secure environment. Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Assistant Manager plays a key leadership role in the day-to-day operational management of interdisciplinary health services by supporting clinical teams, ensuring compliance with policy and legislation, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and professional practice. This position requires strong leadership, operational insight, and the ability to navigate the unique challenges of providing healthcare in a correctional setting.

Description:

PlThe Assistant Manager assists in overseeing daily operations of Correctional Health Services to ensure effective, timely, and safe healthcare delivery. The successful candidate will support staffing strategies including scheduling, workload planning, and coverage for clinical staff. As well as provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and performance support to clinical and administrative staff. This role actively participates in recruitment, onboarding, and the performance management process. As well as support quality assurance initiatives, audits, and continuous improvement activities. This role must work collaboratively with correctional partners, interdisciplinary healthcare teams, and external stakeholders. The Assistant Manager plays a key role in strategic planning by supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of operational plans that align with organizational objectives, legislative requirements, and best practices in Correctional Health Services. This role contributes to identifying priorities, assessing risks, and allocating resources to ensure safe, efficient, and effective facility operations. The Assistant Manager collaborates with leadership and frontline staff to translate strategic goals into actionable plans, monitor performance outcomes, and recommend continuous improvement initiatives that enhance security, staff development, and patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications:

Baccalaureate Degree in healthcare. Active registration and good standing with a relevant professional association/college. Minimum two (2) years recent clinical experience in management and/or progressive leadership/supervisory role. Working knowledge of the healthcare system. Superior change management, communication and conflict management skills. Proven ability to supervise and manage staff performance, including conducting evaluations and addressing performance issues. Experience coordinating interdisciplinary teams and managing clinical operations. Demonstrated experience in complex, fast-paced, or high-acuity care environments.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Master's degree. A strong clinical background in care of marginalized populations. Demonstrated ability to implement quality improvement initiatives and monitor service outcomes. Experience leading or supporting change management initiatives, including implementing new processes or systems within a clinical or organizational setting.
