What you’ll do:

  • Identify and recommend changes to improve network performance, security, and reliability.
  • Plan and coordinate all changes to network systems and services.
  • Design and implement activities for access network upgrade projects.
  • Analyze and document potential points of failure in the network and build redundancies.
  • Ensure required software upgrades are applied to the access network elements in a timely fashion, with proper testing and documentation.
  • Perform product evaluations and proof of concept testing for new products to be used in the access network.
  • Provide Tier 2/3 support for internal and external customers when needed.
  • Maintain a current knowledge of network best practices and network security.

What you’ll bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or closely related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in an ISP or MSO environment with excellent knowledge and experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining DOCSIS and FTTX infrastructure.
  • Excellent understanding of:
  • IT infrastructure standards and configuration best practices.
  • Networking knowledge (TCP/IP networking and core technologies).
  • Linux/general Linux support issues.
  • Routing, switching, voice media gateways, SIP/TDM trunking.
  • Internet and IP Protocols including but not limited to:
  • Ethernet, VLANs, Spanning Tree, LACP, MLAG.
  • IPv4, IPv6, ICMP, ICMPv6, TCP, UDP.
  • OSPF, EGP, BGP, IGRP, RIP, ISIS, VRF, MPLS, VPLS.
  • IP Multicast – SSM, IGMPv3, PIMv2.
  • VXLAN Bridging and Routing, MPLS VLL.
  • DHCP, DNS, TFTP, SNMP.
  • Scripting languages for task automation (PHP, Perl, Python etc).
  • Fibre transport technologies (DWDM, Coherent optics).
  • Last mile access technologies and RF fundamentals.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid driver’s license and be able to life and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be bondable and available to be on call.
