About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Specialist Support Assistant - Communication Support to provide specialist communication support for a profoundly deaf student whose primary language is British Sign Language (BSL).

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to enable full access to learning, social activities, work placements and wider college life through effective BSL communication and Total Communication approaches.

The role will involve facilitating communication, promoting independence, supporting social interaction and helping the student develop the confidence and communication skills needed for adulthood, employment and community participation.

Applicants must hold a minimum BSL Level 3 qualification, have experience of supporting deaf learners or individuals with communication needs, and be committed to creating inclusive learning environments where students can thrive and achieve their full potential.

This position is 18 hours per week, fixed term and term time only for 1 academic year.
