Overview of the role: The Product Portfolio Manager, WestJet App, is a senior leadership role responsible for defining, governing, and delivering the strategy and roadmap for WestJet’s guest-facing iOS and Android applications. This role is accountable for transforming the WestJet App into the definitive day-of-travel companion for every guest—a proactive, intelligent mobile experience that supports travelers from pre-trip planning through post-landing, including real-time disruption support, flight status, check-in, boarding passes, loyalty access, and personalized communications. WestJet App is being reimagined—not maintained—and this role leads to that evolution. The successful candidate will bring deep mobile product expertise, a builder’s mindset, and the leadership presence to align cross-functional teams around a bold product vision. Operating in an agile environment, the Product Portfolio Manager provides portfolio ownership, strategic direction, and people leadership while serving as a trusted partner to business, technology, and executive stakeholders. The role owns the app's product strategy and roadmap, ensuring investments deliver measurable guest and commercial outcomes. This highly visible role partners across multiple product portfolios and technology teams, working closely with Guest Experience, Day of Travel, Marketing, Pricing & Revenue, Loyalty & Partnerships, and Guest Support to translate business strategy into product outcomes and measurable OKRs. While Day of Travel remains central to the app experience, sustained growth also requires a strong focus on the guest experience. This role ensures the guest perspective remains at the center of product strategy, driving cohesive experiences that strengthen loyalty and engagement. Key Deliverables include: The Product Portfolio Manager is responsible for the end-to-end digital product ecosystem of the WestJet iOS and Android applications. The app operates as both a channel and a product, integrating and surfacing capabilities across the guest journey, including: Day-of-Travel & Guest Experience: real-time flight status, gate information, inbound aircraft tracking, disruption and IROP management. Core App Functionality: push notifications, booking, check-in, and Manage Trips integration. Loyalty & Guest Experience: loyalty and partner hub, guest sign-up and sign-in experiences. The Product Portfolio Manager is accountable for the WestJet App portfolio, balancing strategy, delivery, quality, velocity, investment, and capability maturity to maximize guest and business value. Key Responsibilities include: Define and evolve the product strategy and long-term roadmap, aligning investments to enterprise objectives, guest outcomes, and commercial KPIs. Lead the transformation of the WestJet App into the definitive day-of-travel command center. Translate business priorities across Guest Experience, Day-of-Travel, Loyalty, Marketing, and Commercial teams into product strategies, OKRs, and measurable outcomes. Benchmark against best-in-class mobile experiences to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation. Develop and communicate a compelling product vision to senior leaders, business partners, and cross-functional teams. Provide portfolio governance, balancing prioritization, delivery commitments, budgets, forecasts, and roadmap trade-offs across multiple initiatives. Ensure strong product management practices, including discovery, outcome-driven planning, and value-based prioritization. Guide teams through complex decisions using data, insights, and sound judgment to inform strategy and investment choices. Lead Product QBRs and executive demonstrations. Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Product Owners (3 FTE plus scaled contractor capacity) while strengthening the broader Product Management practice. Provide indirect leadership to Product Designers and Product Analysts, fostering strong collaboration and product discipline Build a culture of curiosity, accountability, and relentless focus on the guest experience. Serve as the primary mobile app product partner to Guest Experience, Day-of-Travel, Loyalty, Commercial, Marketing, and Guest Support teams. Partner across business, technology, and external stakeholders to deliver scalable, intuitive digital experiences. Maintain strong technical fluency, collaborating with technical leaders and platform teams to assess trade-offs, managing dependencies, and identifying new capabilities. Drive alignment through clear storytelling and exceptional written and verbal communication. Champion continuous improvement by leveraging digital and AI-enabled solutions that enhance guest experience, operational efficiency, and product quality. Build and manage strategic partnerships that support portfolio objectives and successful roadmap delivery. Experience & Qualifications: Recognized Diploma or bachelor’s degree in business, Science, Technology, Product Management, or a related field 10 years of experience in Product Management, with demonstrated ownership of mobile applications or digital product portfolios at scale Proven track record of shipping meaningful mobile capabilities — iOS and Android — with measurable guest and business impact Deep fluency in mobile product management: platform conventions, push and notification systems, app store optimization, and native OS capabilities Proven experience developing product strategies and roadmaps, launching new capabilities, and operating within cross-functional agile teams Minimum 7 years of experience leading and coaching product teams in a fast-paced digital environment Demonstrated ability to build high-performing teams and develop strong product leaders Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate clearly, influence decision-making, and align diverse stakeholders across business and technology Strong understanding of agile software development and product lifecycle management Technical literacy to engage credibly with engineering leads on architecture trade-offs, API dependencies, and integration complexity Experience operating as a strategic partner to a business domain, translating business goals into product strategy and delivery Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills High degree of professionalism, sound judgment, and ability to manage sensitive or confidential information Experience with the airline, travel, or loyalty industry is strongly preferred The benefits of being a WestJetter: WestJet provides all WestJetters with a competitive total rewards package.
