About the role
Job Description Some of what you will do: This 6-month contract role is to support Staples Canada’s IBM iSeries (AS/400) servers. You will work with our vendor / partners, be responsible for the daily operations of our systems, maintain maximum availability of our IBM iSeries servers.
Specifically You Will
- Lead projects associated to the enhancement upgrade / patching, or implementation of new or existing technology solutions on IBM I
- Work with hosting partner, install of cumulative PTFs and upgrade packages
- Setup Robot job scheduling and production promotion
- Maintain and upgrade third party vendor software on IBM I
- Setup, maintain and monitor IBM I security as per Security group requirement
- Conduct performance tuning and troubleshooting
- Maintain compliance to all IT policies and procedures
- Provide after hour support to address critical business and / or IT issues
Some Of What You Need
- Degree in computer science or engineering with relevant work experience
- 5 – 10 years of experience supporting IBM I systems as system engineer / system administrator
- Experience in IBM I v7.3 or above, including applying PTFs, OS upgrades, Backup and Restore, security management and printer queue setup
- Third Party Vendor Software Upgrades
- Experience in Robot Suites (Schedule, Console, Alert, Network etc), MIMIX configuration, Patrick Townsend setup
- Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio etc.)
