About the role

Our Story

The Make a Book Project empowers children aged 8–12 to become published authors. Partnering with libraries, schools, and community sponsors, we enable young writers to capture their community spirit in stories that are published and shared worldwide.

Overview

We are hiring 10 Representatives across Canada, one per province, to lead partnerships and outreach. This role is remote, part-time, and outcome- focused.

  • Compensation: Commission only, 20% of partner funding secured.
  • Indicative earnings: CAD 21,000–42,000 per semester (based on 50–100 partners, assuming average CAD 2,150 per partner).
  • Contract: Freelance, via Upwork.
  • Duration: One academic semester, renewable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Secure a flagship partnership with your province’s major public library system.
  • Drive outreach to funding partners, corporates, and community sponsors.
  • Lead school engagement for ages 8–12, coordinating with teachers and parents.
  • Draft press releases and short-form content for partners’ channels.
  • Manage scheduling, trackers, and virtual meetings.
  • Provide weekly updates on progress and next actions.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in partnerships, community outreach, education, or non-profits.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; confident on Zoom.
  • Strong organisational skills and stakeholder management.
  • Proficiency with Google Docs, Sheets, Canva, and CRM/email outreach tools.
  • Fluent English; French fluency preferred in Quebec and parts of New Brunswick.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Existing relationships with Canadian public libraries, school boards, or NGOs.
  • Media or PR experience.
  • Familiarity with safeguarding requirements for children in Canada.

Deliverables & KPIs

  • Signed MoU with the main provincial library system.
  • 30 qualified funding leads within 30 days.
  • 2 press mentions or partner posts within 45 days.
  • Outreach to 100% of schools in region, with at least 10% confirmed participation.

Safeguarding & Compliance

  • Must comply with Canadian child protection and privacy laws (e.g., PIPEDA, provincial equivalents).
  • Obtain documented parental/guardian consent before engaging with children.
  • Undergo criminal background checks (e.g., RCMP Vulnerable Sector Check).
