Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement personalized massage therapy treatment plans based on client assessments and identified goals. Provide therapeutic, rehabilitative, and preventative massage treatments to address musculoskeletal pain, soft tissue injuries, stress, and physical tension. Conduct comprehensive client health assessments and physical assessments. Monitor client progress and adjust treatment approaches based on client response and treatment outcomes. Address pain management needs related to injuries, chronic conditions, and functional limitations. Monitor treatment effectiveness and modify interventions to achieve established therapeutic goals. Educate clients on injury prevention, posture, ergonomics, stretching techniques, and self-care strategies. Support rehabilitation goals in collaboration with other healthcare providers and interdisciplinary teams. Communicate treatment recommendations, expected outcomes, and follow-up care plans with clients and healthcare professionals. Promote overall wellness, mobility, and physical functioning. Provide health promotion and prevention education to clients. Maintain accurate treatment records, progress notes, clinical documentation, and reports. Perform duties consistent with the scope of practice of a Registered Massage Therapist. Adapt communication skills to provide information, education, and health teaching to diverse client populations. Support patients in implementing and modifying their treatment plans. Evaluate responses to treatment and modify treatment plans to achieve established goals. Record and report clinical activities in accordance with organizational policies and Regulatory College requirements. Maintain accurate and compliant clinical documentation and reports. In consultation with the Client’s healthcare team, provide referrals to community specialists when indicated. Review consultation notes from community healthcare providers and integrate recommendations into treatment planning as appropriate. Support and utilize health technology initiatives implemented by the Client, including electronic medical records (EMR) and provincial electronic health records where available. Collaborate with the Client’s healthcare manager to provide advice and support strategic planning related to healthcare service delivery. Communicate in a timely manner with healthcare professionals regarding client care and treatment progress. Attend required meetings and teleconferences related to healthcare service delivery, clinical updates, and healthcare policy implementation. Arrange for qualified Registered Massage Therapist coverage during planned absences. Maintain and monitor an email account for communication with Supply Ontario and the Client. Comply with all security requirements of the Client’s facility or facilities.
Qualifications and Experience
Be in good standing and hold a valid licence issued by the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) to practice as a Registered Massage Therapist within the required scope of work. Maintain valid registration with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario throughout the term of employment, with no restrictions on practice and no active disciplinary proceedings. Demonstrate expertise and assessment skills to obtain, interpret, and utilize client information to support clinical decision-making and treatment planning. Demonstrate leadership skills to coordinate and deliver Registered Massage Therapy services, support quality improvement initiatives, and collaborate with healthcare staff, partners, and internal and external stakeholders. Possess knowledge of professional practice standards, best practice guidelines, massage therapy practices, and applicable legislation, including but not limited to the Health Care Consent Act, Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA), Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA), Ontario Hospitals Act, Child and Family Services Act (CFSA), Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), and other relevant legislation. Possess knowledge of illness and disease theory, health promotion, disease prevention, evidence-based practice, and current massage therapy treatment modalities. Demonstrate knowledge of mental health and addiction treatment approaches, with experience supporting individuals experiencing addictions. Have experience working with individuals experiencing mental health concerns. Have experience supporting the therapeutic needs of diverse client populations, including youth and adults. Have experience providing massage therapy services to marginalized and diverse populations, including individuals who have experienced trauma.
