Job Purpose

Reporting to the Shipping Supervisor the position’s main function is the day-to-day planning and documentation of outbound finished goods shipments and other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow prescribed safety standards, rules, and regulations.

  • Assists in managing the outbound Finished Goods order cycle from factory to final delivery.

  • Ensure accurate inventory reporting.

  • Handle and organize paperwork such as dock receipts, bills of lading, and packing lists.

  • Plan shipments and handle contingencies in transportation.

  • Assists in improvements to increase truck utilization and implement processes to ensure product weight and dimensions are accurate and current.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to highlight our sustainability initiatives and its impact on the environment.

  • Assists in ensuring supplier and carrier Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) are evaluated every week and corrective actions implemented.

  • Ability to multitask operational tasks and project management to meet both short term & long-term objectives.

  • Check-in and sign-out drivers for loading.

  • To monitor for and alert their Team Leader or Supervisor of any abnormalities from the standards in their area. This includes abnormalities in standard processes, standard machine operation, product quality, and logistics management.

  • To use the defined method of data collection for the area so that information can be compiled and used by the company.

  • Perform related paperwork duties to assure completeness and accuracy of shipment.

  • Responsible for accuracy, teamwork, inventory control duties as required, total quality, employee involvement, cost reductions.

  • Ensure all products meet the quality guidelines and follow all quality standards, procedures and guidelines in place and be active in improving product quality.

  • Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, and defective materials to proper supervision.

Experience Required

  • Grade 12 or GED equivalency.

  • Have no active disciplinary letters on file.

  • For internal applicants they must have been in their current position for longer than six months.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

  • Knowledge of IMC, SAP and OTM programs are considered an asset.

  • Strong organizational skills and extremely self-motivated.

  • Good communication skills; both verbally and written.

  • Be able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Able to perform the functions of the position including moderate physical demand consisting of frequently lifting or moving average weight material.
