Posting Period: August 30, 2025 - September 8, 2025 Under the direction of the Pharmacy Manager, Clinical Support Services and the supervision of the Pharmacist, and within the scope of practice of a registered Pharmacy Technician, the Pharmacy Technician will assist in carrying out the activities of the Hospital Pharmacy in accordance with the standard practices, morals and ethics of the Pharmacy profession and the Vision, Mission and Values of Providence Care.

The Pharmacy Technician will work to the full scope of practice as described within the National Association of Pharmacy Regulatory Authorities (NAPRA) Model Standards of Practice for Canadian Pharmacy Technicians to support the Pharmacist and ensure the safe and accurate distribution of pharmaceuticals in the Hospital.

The Pharmacy Technician is accountable to the Ontario College of Pharmacists and to Providence Care for his/her professional service to the clients/patients.

Education & Experience

  • Current unrestricted registration with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, Registered Pharmacy Technician (R.Ph.T.)
  • Experience working in a hospital pharmacy, preferred

Position Responsibilities

  • Prepare new and refill individual client/patient orders and prescriptions (counting, pouring, weighing, measuring, mixing, repackaging, labelling) in accordance with organization and departmental policy and procedure
  • Generate fill lists, prepare cart fills, and verify cart fills for product accuracy
  • Perform sterile product preparation in accordance with departmental policy
  • Participate in admission medication reconciliation; compile the Best Possible Medication History (BPMH) through client/patient or family interview and review of appropriate client/patient medication history information sources, and document the home medication list in the client’s/patient’s electronic patient record
  • Perform inventory and purchasing functions including ordering and receiving drugs from vendors, perpetual inventory management, expired product returns, annual physical inventory count and financial reporting
