Intent of the process
A pool of candidates may be established through this process and used to staff identical or similar positions with various employment tenures (temporary and permanent), language profiles, operational requirements, and conditions of employment at the Department of National Defence.
The intent of this process is to fill seven (7) positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Borden, Ontario.

Possession of a valid unrestricted Class 1 (Class A in Ontario) Driver’s License with air brake endorsement valid in the province of work.

Possession of a valid unrestricted Class 3 (DZ in Ontario) Driver’s License with air brake endorsement valid in the province of work.

Education
Stream 1 – Vehicle Instructor and Dispatcher
Completion of a driving instructor training program from an accredited institution.
Degree equivalency
Experience Stream 1 - Vehicle Instructor and Dispatcher
E1 – Experience providing driver training to both new and experienced drivers. Which may include but not limited to:
- Instruction of correct vehicle operation;
- Instructing vehicle characteristics and components;
- Correction of faults during vehicle operation; and
- Provide accurate feedback for driver development.
Stream 2 – Driver Heavy Vehicle
E2 – Experience In One Or More Of The Following:
- Commercial Cargo Vehicle Operation;
- Passenger Carrying vehicles with a capacity over 40 persons;
- Material Handling Equipment (i.e. 6,000 lbs Forklift or greater); and
- Effective Air Brake Operation.

Education
A secondary school diploma.
Vocational diploma in heavy equipment operation or the equivalent from any province.
Professional truck driving Diploma or the equivalent from any province.
Degree equivalency
Experience Experience in training personnel
Experience performing operator inspections and daily maintenance on a variety of heavy equipment.
Experience in maintaining driver logs, defect sheets and other applicable documentation.
Experience utilizing the Department of National Defence (DND) Software, Defence Resource Management Information System (DRMIS), Monitor Mass, Military Command Software (MCS) data.
Experience loading and unloading cargo.
Experience driving a bus for more than 21 passengers.
Experience operating a Forklift, up to 10,000 lbs rating.
Experience in performing general office tasks, such as utilizing Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook or Systems Applications and Products (SAP) based systems.
Experience with vehicle inspection paperwork and fleet management operations.
Experience working or volunteering in a mixed military and civilian environment.
Knowledge
Knowledge of the Department of National Defence (DND) training programs to enhance training operations within the training organization.
Ability
Ability to identify organizational development opportunities to support continued growth.

Conditions of employment
Reliability Status security clearance
Possession of a valid unrestricted Class 3 (DZ in Ontario) OR Class 1 (Class A in Ontario) Driver’s License with air brake endorsement valid in the province of work. Note: Restriction number one (glasses) is not applicable.
Provide an acceptable* driver's abstract to show evidence of a satisfactory and safe driving record for the last 3 years provided within 30 days of request, dated no earlier than 30 days prior to the request.
- Acceptable as determined by management.
Must be willing and able to work shift work, weekends, and overtime as required and sometimes on short notice.
Must be eligible and willing to obtain and maintain a valid departmental driver’s license (DND 404).
Must be willing and able to safely perform a variety of physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 30 kg, climbing ladders, working on uneven surfaces, and sitting for periods of 4-5 hours on a daily basis.
Must be willing and able to travel within the Province of Quebec and Ontario and across Canada.
Must fulfil the role of a Driving Instructor or Examiner on Civilian and Military vehicle platforms as required (Stream 1 - Vehicle Instructor and Dispatcher).
Holder of a valid class 1 driver’s license must consent and be willing to have a medical examination.
Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.
