Join our team! Join our team! AGF Rebar is looking for a Detailing Manager. This is a full-time, permanent and hybrid position that requires weekly in-office presence at our Kitchener and Markham offices.based at our Kitchener and Markham office.
This position is responsible for building, leading, and motivating a team of highly experienced Engineering and Technical Supervisors. The role works closely with the Sales department on technical design matters, supports active projects and select pre-construction opportunities, and provides input to Owners, Contractors, and Engineers of Record to secure work through design-assist and design-build contract models.
The Detailing Manager collaborates with Pre-Construction, Project Management, and Field Placing teams to improve placing metrics and overall performance. This role also partners with the Managing Director of Tecnik to enhance quality and efficiency, and works closely with the Senior Director, Operations to support plant goals, performance metrics, and long-term company growth.
The position offers a salary of 120k - 140k per year.

About the Role - Your main responsibilities will include:
- Define and recommend objectives for technical staff;
- Recruit, manage, mentor, and professionally develop a team of best in class;
- Standardize processes and training;
- Responsible for all technical aspects of all AGF projects. Sign and seal drawings and provide calculations as required;
- Provide support on delivery, program development, project prioritization and other issues and help them work through obstacles to their success;
- Develop specific short-term and long-term goals for Detailing Department
- Allocate resources to improve efficiencies and customer service, establish administrative controls; formulate and approve promotional campaigns; and approve overall personnel planning;
- Review performance of detailing departments against allocated budget, time, plans and industry standards and provide reports to subordinates on interpretation of results;
- Present periodic reports on performance as requested
- In conjunction with HR; select, hire, dismiss, review and adjust wages for detailers and project coordinators;
- Provide technical support and assist in problem solving within the technical departments, such as our approach towards extra to contracts;
- Facilitate detailing start up meetings, assist material and time savings on project bases;
- Assist the sales department in allocating costs for detailing and set targets for awarded projects;
- Attend site meetings, pre bid meetings and contract negotiation meetings as needed;
- Represent the company or delegate representatives to act on behalf of the company in technical, negotiations or other official functions;
- Establish objectives and procedures governing the performance of assigned activities. Issue specific annual objectives to immediate subordinates;
- Direct, monitor, and appraise the performance of units immediately reporting and provide the necessary coordination between the activities;
- Identify training needs, initiates development of subordinates, recommend effective personnel actions;
- Maintain appropriate communications within the area of responsibility;
- Keep employees informed as to company/department plans and progress;
- Seek mutual agreement on problems involving coordination;
- Consult with all segments of management responsible for policy or action. Ensure compliance within the area of responsibility. Make recommendations for improving the effectiveness of policies and procedures;
- Provide orientation and on-the-job training for direct subordinates and ensures that the authority and responsibility for each position are well understood;
- Accept other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
About You - The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- B.Sc. in Civil or Structural Engineering (mandatory);
- Registered Professional Engineer in Ontario;
- Minimum 10 years of leadership experience in the rebar industry and Canadian market;
- Strong administrative and management skills, with a solid understanding of both principles and people management;
- Proven ability to motivate teams while balancing staffing, profitability, and growth objectives;
- Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving abilities;
- Participative management style with a strong commitment to teamwork;
- Well-developed interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with diverse personalities; tactful and mature;
- Ability to establish credibility, make decisive decisions, and align with organizational priorities;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Results-oriented with the ability to consider broader business objectives;
- Self-starter with the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment.
