Job Description:

The Proctor is responsible for the invigilation of tests and exams for students and applicants participating in a wide range of assessments at the Algonquin College Test Centre and the Centre for Accessible Learning (CAL) Test Services.

Exams and assessment tools administered include, but are not limited to, college and university course exams, the Accuplacer placement tests, MCTU Exemption Tests, or tests for an external educational institution or organization that Algonquin College has agreed to administer to examinees. Examinees may be applicants to Algonquin College, current Algonquin students, current Algonquin students with disabilities in need of accommodated tests/exams, students of external educational institutions or organizations, and those seeking trades certification.

The incumbent ensures that testing takes place per Algonquin College policies, the policies and procedures of Testing Services, the specific test administration requirements outlined by the test provider or vendor (e.g., Accuplacer), and all disability-related accommodations are put into place. The incumbent ensures the setup and troubleshooting of individual tests and exams are carried out each day.

The Proctor has a working knowledge of the CAL Database (Clockwork) and is required to support first time users in navigating the online test booking system. The Proctor also has a working knowledge of the Test Centre Online Booking System (TCOBS). The proctor will also be required to acquire a working knowledge of the testing platforms used to administer the full range of tests and exams delivered by Testing Services (e.g., Brightspace and Accuplacer).

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum two (2) year diploma or equivalent in office Administration or equivalent field of study
  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a Test Services facility in a post-secondary environment which includes the following:
  • Comprehensive experience in working with persons who have disabilities in an educational setting.
  • Work experience in a complex detail-oriented, customer service driven, computerized office setting.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office and/or certification in Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Office experience with a client database such as Clockwork.

This position requires on-site work at Algonquin College's Woodroffe (Ottawa) Campus.
