What can you expect from this position?

The Program Manager, Community Investment is a key leadership position responsible for the management and execution of Toronto Pearson's strategic community investment portfolio.

Reporting to the Associate Director, Community Engagement, this role drives programs that strengthen relationships with local communities and Indigenous partners, enhancing the airport’s reputation as a socially responsible neighbor.

You will spearhead initiatives that benefit from a significant and dedicated annual funding base (1% of GTAA’s net profits), ensuring that investments and partnerships, including the crucial mandate of Indigenous Relations, are delivered effectively and advance the organization’s commitment to social responsibility.

As a Program Manager, Community Investment, you will:

  • Lead the day-to-day management and strategic execution of the Propeller Project and all annual community investment initiatives.
  • Implement and manage initiatives that advance the organization’s dedicated Indigenous Relations priorities across key areas like engagement and economic inclusion.
  • Identify and recommend strategic and impactful investment and partnership opportunities aligned with the airport’s social impact priorities.
  • Manage the end-to-end granting cycle, including reviewing funding requests, assessing potential partners, and drafting agreements for Senior Management.
  • Coordinate all administrative operations, ensuring effective approvals, tracking, reporting, and disbursement of the annual 1% net profit allocation.
  • Deliver program activities based on community-level research and outcomes, seeking input from a cross-sectoral spectrum of stakeholders.
  • Support and maintain progressive and influential partnerships with diverse community groups to deepen the value and promote the impact of investments.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team on impact storytelling, thought-leadership campaigns, and the development of creative collateral to enhance the GTAA’s reputation.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners to showcase their successes and strengthen internal awareness and employee pride in the initiatives.
  • Serve as coordination support for internal and external advisory committees established to guide the program's strategic development and implementation.
  • Recommend and implement updates to policies and procedures to ensure an efficient, effective, and industry-leading granting program.
  • Foster and role-model a high-performance, inclusive, and accountable team culture that embodies the GTAA Leadership Vision, driving flawless execution of strategies, clearly defined expectations, and a safe and healthy work environment in adherence to all appropriate legislation and regulations.

This is the role for you, if you have:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in communications, stakeholder/community relations, community development, or equivalent.
  • Experience leading projects or initiatives involving cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in administration and allocation of funding for community grants.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, community groups, and community engagement programming.
  • Experience coordinating or implementing programs that yield positive reputational growth and build social impact.
  • Experience developing, coordinating, or implementing initiatives that advance meaningful engagement and partnerships with Indigenous communities.
  • Ability to design, implement, and evaluate meaningful community granting programs and partnerships, demonstrating success in social impact reporting and storytelling, and experience in drafting, interpreting, and implementing partnership/funding agreements.
  • Ability to thrive in a challenging, fast-paced, and matrix environment by managing high-performing, multi-stakeholder teams, building lasting community relationships, and managing competing priorities with a highly motivated and diplomatic approach.
  • University Degree in General Arts, Philanthropy, Communications, or a related field.
  • Valid G Driver’s License, or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain and retain Transportation Security Clearance at the designated level for the position.
