Community Engagement Coordinator

Start Date: Immediately
Salary: $44,138.00/year - $55,172.00/year

###What qualifications are we looking for?
Qualifications include:

Post-secondary degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, or Marketing
-
Proven experience in social media management and content creation, including video production, storytelling, and graphic design, with a focus on engaging diverse audiences.

Photography and video production skills
-
Design skills and experience using Canva, the Adobe platform (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and ability to learn other tools as required
-
Excellent writing and editing skills
-
Proficiency with social media management platforms (e.g., AgoraPulse, Hootsuite) to track, and analyze performance.

Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office platform
-
Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Constant Contact)
-
Event management experience is an asset
-
Ability to develop strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
-
Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
-
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
This role must be able to travel between YMCA branches and to external meetings on an as-needed basis.
###What does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?
The Community Engagement Coordinator will help support YMCA Calgary’s mission to foster community health, wellness, and connection. By adopting a storytelling-first approach, the coordinator will support impactful content creation, social media engagement, communications tactics, and community engagement activities that elevate YMCA Calgary as a trusted charity and community hub where individuals can belong, grow, thrive, and lead.
The Community Engagement Coordinator duties and responsibilities include:

Work with internal and external business partners as a Community Engagement liaison to create brand compliant communication materials (both print and digital)

Execute the Association’s social media strategy, including maintaining the content calendar and developing or customizing content across all owned channels, working to maximize social channels by coordinating overall strategy with branch-specific needs
-
Write and edit content for various projects (social media, website, blog, newsletter, programs, scripts, planning documents etc.)
-
Create engaging content—including videos, graphics, blog posts, and stories—that highlights the organization’s community impact and connects members to meaningful experiences
-
Support operational, program, and employee engagement communications activities Support media and public relations activities , including media monitoring and participation in the Crisis Communications On-Call rotation
-
Support community engagement activities including street team and special event support, which may include some evening and weekend work
-
Build strong internal and external relationships, liaising with both internal and external stakeholders
-
Other projects as required.
This role must be able to travel between YMCA branches and to external meetings on an as-needed basis.
