About the role
This role is directly responsible for designing, building, and optimizing the data infrastructure that powers Northleaf’s analytics and reporting capabilities. This role is hands-on and execution-focused, requiring deep technical expertise in Azure and Microsoft data platforms to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performing solutions. This role is a critical enabler of Northleaf’s data-driven transformation, directly supporting its growth strategy and commitment to delivering differentiated insights.
Data Architecture & Solution Design
- Design and deploy analytics solutions that are tightly integrated within the Enterprise Data warehouse architecture, ensuring performance, security, and scalability across Microsoft and cloud-native platforms.
- Construct and evolve enterprise data models using Kimball, Data Vault, or 3NF to support analytical and operational needs.
- Apply and implement architectural frameworks (e.g., Zachman) and modeling methodologies (e.g., Inmon) in real-world scenarios.
- Build and manage multi-layered data environments (Raw, Curated, Business) that enable efficient data flow and usability.
Data Integration
- Develop and maintain robust, reusable data pipelines using Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Fabric, Logic Apps, and SQL Server.
- Implement and monitor logging frameworks to proactively detect and resolve data reliability issues.
- Collaborate directly with business and technical stakeholders to onboard new data sources and fine-tune ingestion processes for performance and scalability.
- Ensure alignment of data integration efforts with enterprise data modeling standards and warehouse architecture to support analytics, reporting, and regulatory needs.
Dashboard Development & Optimization
- Build and deliver secure, high-performance Power BI dashboards using composite and semantic models tailored to business needs.
- Tune and refactor data models and DAX measures to enhance performance and ensure reusability across reports.
- Apply and enforce security protocols (RLS, OLS, data masking), access controls, and auditing mechanisms.
- Manage and troubleshoot Power BI datasets, refresh schedules, and service reliability.
- Mentor junior developers and stay current with Power BI advancements.
Data Security and Compliance
- Implement and enforce sensitive data handling protocols, including row, column, and object-level security.
- Apply and maintain access control policies, encryption standards, and data loss prevention (DLP) measures to ensure compliance and data integrity.
Qualifications
- 10+ years in data analytics and architecture, with 7+ years in hands-on data/solution architecture roles focused on data modeling, integration, metadata/master data management, and the design of business intelligence and analytics solutions.
- Expertise in Azure services (Synapse, Data Factory, Key Vaults, Power BI, Dev Ops, Fabric, Logic Apps, SQL Server) and Microsoft SQL Stack (TSQL, Power Query, MDX, DAX).
- Extensive experience troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models. Proven ability to write complex measures in DAX and optimize data models.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field.
- Preferred Qualifications: finance knowledge/background; experience with other BI tools (Tableau, Qlik); certification in Power BI or related technologies
