About the role

Building Co-op (4 months)

The Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is looking for a highly motivated and independent individual to assist the Building Division from May to August 2026. Reporting to the Chief Building Official, the position will assist the building department with records management of architectural plans and drawings.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative assistance to technical and support staff with records management, data creation, and records retention.
  • Convert hard copy drawings into digital format digital drawings and archive files.
  • Work on special projects/initiatives in relation to building standard forms and drawings for home owners improvements.
  • Assist with front counter reception and direct inquiries to the appropriate staff.
  • Helping public at the front counter and answer questions related to permit application and processes.
  • Participate in the building division training, including the mandatory septic inspection program.

Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Must be enrolled in a post-secondary Architectural Technology or Engineering Technology program (or equivalent).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or GIS software as well as Microsoft Office would be considered an asset.
  • Possess excellent customer service, interpersonal, project/time management, analytical, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to promote a culture of inclusiveness and work with a diverse population of employees, participants, agencies, and the public.
  • Able to submit a successful Criminal Record & Police Information Check as a pre-condition of employment.

The hourly rate for this position is $21.08 (2025 rates) per hour.

Bradford West Gwillimbury is a town in south-central Ontario, in the County of Simcoe in the Toronto Census Metropolitan Area on the Holland River. West Gwillimbury takes its name from the family of Elizabeth Simcoe, née Gwillim. The former Town of Bradford was amalgamated with portions of the former Townships of West Gwillimbury and Tecumseth to become the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury on January 1, 1991.
