This posting

This posting is to fill (1) permanent position with Continuing Care at Alexander McDonald Lodge in Dawson City working 12-hour shift rotations including day and night shifts. It will also be used to establish a 12‑month eligibility list, which may be used to fill future term and permanent vacancies.

The position is based in Dawson City , a vibrant and diverse northern community in the Yukon .

Alexander McDonald Lodge (AML) in Dawson City, YT is a 15-bed long-term care home that provides person-centered care to individuals who need varying levels of intermediate care support with daily living activities. Through responsiveness to each resident’s uniqueness, the Lodge creates a feeling of home and belonging for all who live there.

Essential Qualifications

Eligible for registration as a licensed practical nurse in Canada

Considerable experience providing nursing care in a clinical setting Recent applied knowledge of nursing theory, practices and techniques Recent applied knowledge and experience in medication administration in a clinical setting

Ability to provide professional care for residents by promoting their physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing Ability to provide leadership and coaching to members of the team Effective oral and written communication skills Excellent organization skills Excellent critical thinking, relationship building, and conflict management skills and Ability to operate across multiple levels of care and within a interdisciplinary environment.

Conditions Of Employment

TB screening, RCMP Security Clearance with Vulnerable Sector Check WHMIS 2015 CPR Level C with AED Yukon LPN registration with Medication Administration upon hire

Job Requirements

Shift work

Heavy lifting (50lbs and over), standing, bending, reaching Exposure to infectious agents requiring adherence to infection prevention and control practices Exposure to latex products Exposure to second hand smoke Potential exposure to animals (pet therapy program).
