Our Western Canada practice is looking for a highly organized and motivated coordinator to join them in Edmonton. The ideal candidate understands politics and is eager to build their career in public affairs.
In this role you will work with our Western Canada practice, assisting our clients in working with provincial governments and executing their communications priorities. This includes operations, research, advocacy, government relations, public policy, communications, media relations and digital campaign work.
Previous experience in government, politics or the public sector is highly valued, along with a keen interest in the political process.
Location : Edmonton
Core Responsibilities
- Develop workplans, support strategy development and provide project management support.
- Conduct research, monitor and follow government agendas and activities across multiple policy areas as well as in the media.
- Stay up-to-date on current events, politics and public policy issues across Western Canada.
- Prepare client communications, including project updates and meeting agendas, and draft client-facing products, including briefings, correspondence, slide decks, contact plans and strategy documents.
- Plan and schedule meetings, creating workback schedules and managing reports.
- Support senior members of the team to ensure alignment of core goals and objectives on files.
- Support the operations of the Western Canada team through administrative office support.
- Ensure adherence to lobbying and ethics standards for public affairs professionals.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education/experience.
- A strong understanding of Alberta politics (knowledge of other Western Canadian provinces is an asset) and a passion for current affairs and major policy issues in Canada.
- Self-starter with a strong work ethic.
- Excellent written and verbal communications.
- Demonstrated research and analytical skills.
- Strong project management skills, ability to meet deadlines and prioritize deliverables.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
