An exciting opportunity exists to showcase and grow your skills by joining our dynamic, Pain & Symptom team within the Cross Cancer Institute as an Administrative IV Clerk. This is an amazing opportunity to support palliative care and symptom management patient delivery. The successful UC will deliver high quality customer service. In this position, it is essential that the representative be able to prioritize, make independent decisions, work independently, be able to handle conflict and difficult situations, and have a high level of problem-solving skills to meet the needs of our patients and team members, while aligning with best practices. The UC will demonstrate professionalism and organization in performing clerical and booking duties in an environment that demands detail. These duties include answering telephone calls, booking appointments, monitoring and actioning workqueues, and reviewing templates. You will be instrumental in facilitating communication between multidisciplinary team members, departments, patients and families while maintaining patient confidentiality. As a front-line contact, the UC will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to multitask, utilize Connect Care fully, and to be instrumental in quality improvement processes enhancing patient access. Required Qualifications:
Some post-secondary education.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Completion of grade 12 diploma or equivalent. Minimum one year Unit Clerk experience with Connect Care. Proficient written and verbal communication skills for safe patient/family care and interdisciplinary collaboration. Exhibit a high degree of professionalism with strong time management and prioritization skills, and a demonstrated ability to function effectively within a dynamic team environment. Able to work in a fast paced and unpredictable environment with frequent interruptions and distractions. Able to lift, push, or pull more than 25 pounds and carrying of multiple supplies. Bending, lifting, reaching above shoulder, walking long distances at times, as well as long periods of sitting are required. Able to complete Move Safe and It’s Your Move training, as a requirement of this role. Computer keyboarding skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite. Ability to prioritize and manage stress. Must be able to maintain calm demeanor during difficult conversations with patients, other staff and visitors. Ability to participate and cope in emergency situations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an Ambulatory Care setting. Quality Improvement courses/certification. Past experience in working with a team to improve patient flow. Demonstrates consistency in delivering Patient and Family Centered care. Fostering relationships and networks internally and externally of team.
