Job Summary
The Vice President, Private Markets Finance provides strategic and operational leadership for all finance activities related to HOOPP’s private investments —including Private Equity, Infrastructure, Real Estate and Private Credit.
The role oversees investment accounting, performance measurement, reporting and valuation governance for all private assets. It is critical to ensuring the integrity and independence of HOOPP’s private valuations and maintaining confidence among leadership, the Board and external auditors.
Beyond governance, this leader is instrumental in building a business-oriented, insight-driven finance function – one that partners deeply with Investment Management, Tax, Legal, Risk and other Finance teams to inform decisions, forecast outcomes and deliver a holistic view of total fund performance.
The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in private investment valuation and accounting with strong relationship skills, strategic foresight and the ability to integrate Finance as a trusted business partner across HOOPP.
Scope of responsibility includes:

What you will do:
Strategic Leadership
- Define and execute the Private Markets Finance strategy covering all finance, valuation and performance functions across Private Equity, Infrastructure and Real Estate
- Ensure strong alignment with HOOPP’s investment strategy, governance frameworks, and financial objectives.
- Lead transformation initiatives to integrate Finance more closely with Investment Management and elevate insight delivery.
- Drive transformation through process optimization, automation, and data integrity (Investran, Yardi, REDP, HANA/BI).
- Represent Finance in senior forums including Valuation Committee, as a key presenter and subject matter expert on private valuations
Investment Accounting, Reporting and Performance
- Oversee end-to-end accounting and financial reporting for all private market investments ensuring accurate and timely results across entities, funds and holding structures;
- Govern holdco reporting: regulatory filings, financial statements for tax and corporate legal resolutions.
- Lead the performance reporting framework, producing actionable insights on returns, attribution, and performance fees
- Partner with Investment Management to translate performance data into business insight that supports investment and strategic decisions
- Collaborate with Corporate Finance to support total fund reporting, ensuring private markets results are integrtely accurately into enterprise-level analysis.
Valuation Governance
- Lead HOOPP’s valuation governance framework ensuring independence, rigor and consistency across all private asset classes
- Oversee quarterly, semi-annual and annual valuation cycles; challenge assumptions and validate methodologies
- Coordinate GP fund valuation reviews; support HOOPP’s annual audit, ICFR, and Internal Audit initiatives
- Engage and oversee external valuation advisors and appraiser and ensure independence, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Establish and serve as a key presenter to the Valuation Committee, providing transparent insight into valuations outcomes, risk factors and market trends
- Build team capability; stay current on market practices; liaise with peer plans on valuation topics.
External Manager Insight
- Build a comprehensive understanding of external manager performance, fees across private assets
- Develop analytical reporting that provides senior leadership with clear insight into fee structures, net returns and manager effectiveness
- Review management fees against legal terms and ensure accurate accruals at year-end.
- Collaborate with Investment Management in due diligence processes for new manager and fund selections, contributing to the assessment of financial operations, controls and valuation processes
Budgeting, Forecasting & Total Fund Integration
- Build and institutionalize forecasting capabilities within Private Markets Finance to anticipate performance outcomes and valuation impacts.
- Partner with Corporate finance and other finance teams to integrate private market results into total fund reporting, budgeting and forecasting
- Contribute financial insight and projections to support scenario analysis and long-term outlook
- Drive alignment between accounting, valuation and forecasting processes to enhance consistency and predictability of results
Systems, Data & Process Excellence
- Oversee data accuracy and integrity across Investran, Yardi, and enterprise BI Systems
- Strengthen automation and data flow between external managers, sub-ledgers and accounting book of record
- Partner) with Business Solutions and IT to advance analytics, workflow efficiency and data-driven insight delivery
- Ensure finance systems and data frameworks evolve in step with HOOPP’s private markets growth.
- Serve as executive sponsor for Investran (PE&I) and Yardi/REDP (Real Estate); set roadmap and quality standards.
Governance, Controls & Assurance
- Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) across private markets and ensure adherence to policies and regulatory standards
- Lead audit readiness and responses; resolve issues proactively and drive remediation plans.
- Maintain and evolve governance policies on valuation, external manager fees, data governance, and records management.
People Leadership
- Lead and develop high-performing teams ; oversee workforce planning, recruiting, and succession.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaborative problem solving.
What you bring:
- 12+ years of progressive experience in private markets finance (PE, Infrastructure, and/or Real Estate) with significant leadership responsibility.
- Deep technical expertise in investment valuation, accounting and performance management
- Professional designation(s) preferred (e.g., CPA; CBV and/or CFA an asset).
- Demonstrated success partnering with investment professionals and influencing senior decision-makers
- Experience presenting to governance committees, senior management and external auditors
- Proficiency with with Investran, Yardi, REDP, and enterprise CY or data systems.
- Strategic thinker with a track record of integrating finance insights into investment strategy
- Exceptional communicator and relationship builder who bridges Finance and the business to drive impact
