About the role

Job Title: Manufacturing Technician

Job Summary

Under direct supervision, ensures that all related machines are set safely and efficiently to produce quality parts, and employees have all necessary tooling gauging and necessary information to start or continue a process.

Responsibility

  • Operate conventional, special-purpose, and numerical control (NC) machines and machining centres to fabricate metallic parts, machine set-up.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining and adjusts machine controls or control media as required.
  • Frequent troubleshooting of machine faults i.e. re-setting machines, manipulating gantries/robots.
  • Verify conformance of finished work piece to specifications, using precision measuring instruments.
  • Set up and operate machines on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data.
  • Perform tool changes and associated documentation for machine tool capability studies. Perform regular machine maintenance, housekeeping and general cleanliness of the work areas.

Academic/Educational Requirements

  • High School Diploma Diploma or degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering is an asset.

Required Skills/Experience

  • Two years of previous machine shop experience, preferably in an automotive or industrial environment
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing systems, automation, and process optimization.
  • Must possess good troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work with engineers and cross-functional teams to implement technical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail. Moves equipment weighing up to 40 pounds on an occasional basis.

Working Conditions

  • 48 hours per week

  • Production area

  • Monday to Saturday or Sunday to Friday Please note: All schedules and changes to working hours must be approved by the department manager. The schedule is subject to change based on the discretion of the department manager.
