Role Description
This is a part-time remote Developer role. The Developer will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining web-based features that support the market intelligence platform, including data visualization tools and user interfaces. Day-to-day work may include implementing APIs, optimizing database queries, improving performance and security, and troubleshooting technical issues. The Developer will collaborate with researchers and advisory staff to translate data and business needs into clear, usable product features. The role also involves writing clean, well-documented code, participating in code reviews, and contributing to continuous improvement of the technology stack.
Qualifications
Strong proficiency in modern programming languages and frameworks (e.g., JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, React, Node.js, or similar). Experience with web development fundamentals, including HTML, CSS, responsive design, and accessibility best practices. Knowledge of databases and data handling (e.g., SQL/NoSQL, schema design, data integration, and performance optimization). Familiarity with APIs, microservices, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or GCP) for deploying and maintaining applications. Understanding of data visualization concepts and experience implementing charts, dashboards, or analytics interfaces. Comfort working with version control (e.g., Git), code reviews, and collaborative development workflows. Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage priorities, and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Awareness of or interest in Indigenous participation, energy, and resource sectors; experience with data or policy-related products is an asset. Post-secondary education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
