The Kinesiologist, following the scope of practice as set by the College of Kinesiologists of Ontario (CKO) is responsible for the assessment of human movement and performance and its rehabilitation and management to maintain, rehabilitate or enhance movement and performance. The Kinesiologist will work independently and under the guidance of the Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, in conjunction with departmental policies and procedures. The Kinesiologist will work collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team to support and enhance rehabilitation department services. The Kinesiologist will ensure the provision of safe, wholistic, patient centered care and maintain comprehensive treatment records. Kinesiologists actively participate in departmental meetings, medical rounds, relevant conferences, and fulfill administrative duties such as maintaining statistical records and equipment care. Additionally, they engage in ongoing training programs and seek guidance on administrative or clinical matters when needed. Kinesiologists work in outpatient or inpatient services as delegated and perform additional administrative duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology
  • Current registration with the Ontario College of Kinesiologists
  • A minimum of two years of recent and relevant clinical experience.
  • Specific additional training in cardiac rehabilitation, or other related subspecialty of rehabilitation services provided at PRH would be considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills and abilities to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in an oral and written format with patients, families, public, colleagues and other health disciplines.
  • Demonstrated effective problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply basic computer skills.
  • Demonstrated and proven ability to work in a collaborative care model with all members of the health care team and community partners.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of the Ontario College of Kinesiologists.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education activities supporting ongoing professional learning.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient safety.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to meet the attendance standards of the Hospital.
  • Bilingualism (English/French) would be considered an asset.
