About the role
Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. We
are focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production, and acquisition
program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented GIS Summer Student to join our GIS team for
the summer term. This is a valuable opportunity to gain real-world experience supporting GIS operations at
one of Canada's leading energy companies.
The successful candidate will assist with data management and mapping, that directly support Tourmaline’s
exploration and development activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and update Tourmaline’s GIS databases by entering, editing, and compiling data from
various sources.
- Create and maintain automation processes using Python and model builder in ArcGIS Pro
- Maintain and update datasets for ArcGIS Online.
- Ad-Hoc tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- Enrolled in a post-secondary program in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Computer
Science, or a related discipline.
- Experience using GIS platforms such as ArcGIS or QGIS.
- Basic programming experience in Python
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, with a good understanding of data structures and formatting.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with oil and gas datasets
- Knowledge of cartographic design principles and best practices.
- Exposure to File GeoDatabases or cloud-based geospatial platforms.
