Job Details
The City of St. Albert is recruiting individuals to join our Community Services department as Theatre Technician with the Arden Theatre. The Arden Theatre welcomes more than 65,000 patrons to over 150 events annually.
Reporting to the Technical Director, this position will be responsible for performing organizational functions related to the technical aspects of production including acting as the technical liaison for various venues and assisting with the maintenance of productions equipment.
This position will also at times be the lead role in managing and directing the technical portion of live performances and events; ensuring good production quality, assisting with the safety and security of performers, patrons, staff and volunteers, all while providing excellent customer service.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2-year technical theatre program or equivalent from an accredited institution or 2 years of theatre/event/festival experience.
- Strong understanding of industry best practices and technological advancements in areas such as Live Audio (Digital consoles, Monitors, wireless microphones), Theatrical Lighting (ETC consoles, Automated lighting fixtures, network distribution and control) and video distribution systems.
- Capable of physically lifting 50 pounds, bending, stand and walking for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions.
- Standard First Aid, Fall arrest, Elevated work platform and Forklift certifications are considered assets.
- A valid class 5 drivers’ licence is preferred.
Hours of Work
Casual hours dependent on event bookings, with majority of events taking place in the afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
Compensation
The wage ranges from $25.24 - $30.74 per hour based on qualifications and experience.
