Summary

The Applications Scientist reports directly to the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO) and is responsible for interfacing with the world-leading scientists & engineers that make up G2V’s customers, partners, and prospects. It is critical to your role to deeply understand the customer’s setup and how G2V’s solutions can meet their technical needs.

The role requires subject-matter expertise in academic and industrial research fields related to photoscience applications and the surrounding laboratory context (specifically, development and testing of solar photovoltaic samples). You will work with the world’s leading solar technology organizations, playing a key role in bringing next-generation solar tech to the world. As a highly personable scientist with a passion for solar renewables, communicating complex concepts effectively, both verbally and in writing, to diverse audiences will be crucial to translating G2V’s scientific value proposition to a broad range of stakeholders.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in applied research environments, with a minimum of an MSc in a STEM field, along with practical experience in research and publication in their relevant fields.

Compensation will be based on relevant experience, and committed team members will also have the opportunity to participate in a stock option program.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Be an internal user and subject matter expert within G2V who can work alongside our customers and product teams in delivering better solutions for scientific characterization & testing.

  • (Sales Support) Accompany sales team members on customer calls to assist in gathering technical requirements around scientific application, product technical fit, product demonstration, and solution design.

  • (Marketing & Content Generation) Develop and present presentations, whitepapers, articles, case studies, social media, and educational content to support brand development, customer education, and engagement with the broader scientific community.

  • (Customer Success) Onboarding and following up with new customers to ensure the successful use of G2V’s products in their applications.

  • Plan, outfit, and manage G2V’s in-house demonstration lab for scientific instruments to enable virtual customer demonstration and remote customer sample testing services.

  • Assist other Revenue Team members in maintaining and expanding a consolidated Knowledge Base for both internal and external use

  • Understand, document, and synthesize customer insight trends to interface with G2V’s Innovation and Product group for the development of new customer-driven features and products.

  • Up to 20% national and international travel as a part of the role

Target Skills & Qualifications

The successful candidate will have:

  • Deep understanding of solar photovoltaics, semiconductor-based LEDs, optics, and electrical device design & love of communicating scientific concepts to non-experts.

  • At least 3 years’ experience developing and testing light-driven technologies (photovoltaics, photochemistry, materials science, etc.)

  • At least 2 years’ experience in laboratory environments, operating and maintaining laboratory equipment

  • PhD or MSc in a STEM field.

  • Ability to work in collaboration across different groups and independently

  • Track record of verbal and written communication through publications & presentations.
