About the role

NextStar Energy (NSE) is an innovative joint venture company between LG and Stellantis. It will be Canada's first large-scale lithium-ion battery production plant when it begins production at the Twin Oaks site in Windsor, Ontario. The manufacturing facility will have an annual targeted production capacity in excess of 49 gigawatt hours and will create an estimated 2,500 new jobs in Windsor and the surrounding areas.

As an EHS Training Specialist, you will responsible for ensuring training needs related to Environmental, Health & Safety requirements are being met; and driving associate training programs within NextStar Energy. This essential role requires a high-energy approach, with exception data management and collaboration skills to ensure we maintain our high EHS standards. The EHS Training Specialist will also play a pivotal role in creating, supporting and maintaining EHS communications on various internal platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Diligently maintain EHS Training Matrix/Database.
  • Deliver established EHS Training Programs at required frequencies, or upon request.
  • Establish new or updated EHS Training Programs as necessary – collaborate with required subject matter experts to ensure contents meet desired objectives.
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders as required to schedule training that is not done in-house.
  • Ensure all training documentation and record-keeping requirements are being met.
  • Coordinate and deploy EHS awareness campaigns on internal company platforms. Collaborate as needed to ensure contents meet desired objectives.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to proactively identify training needs, schedule training, and facilitate training by appropriate personnel.
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of the plant's environmental management system, ISO14001 requirements and health and safety management system, ISO45001.
  • Support Contractor Management, including site-authorization requirements and records management requirements that may be applicable.
  • Other responsibilities as requested by Part Lead, or Team Lead.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
  • Basic understanding of health & safety, and environmental regulations and requirements.
  • Strong MS Office skills; PowerPoint, Excel, Word.
  • Exceptional data management, attention to detail, time management, and organization skills.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to transfer knowledge with exceptional presentation skills, in both classroom and practical settings.
  • Ability to learn and utilize other learning/records management software solutions.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Automotive, chemical, or manufacturing experience.
  • ISO14001/ISO45001 experience
