The Ministry of Transportation is seeking two (2) dynamic Municipal Services Supervisors to join our Operations Division in Thunder Bay and North Bay. In this pivotal role, you'll lead the delivery of road construction projects and seasonal maintenance programs in Northern Ontario, ensuring safe and reliable transportation for communities across the region.

- Provide supervision and guidance to staff located throughout Northwestern and Northeastern Ontario, ensuring effective team coordination and performance.
- Organize and oversee the delivery of road construction projects and seasonal maintenance programs, including summer and winter operations.
- Administer and manage budgets for the Unincorporated Roads program, evaluate work proposals, and address operational challenges.
- Liaise with municipal authorities and other ministries on engineering, technical, and financial matters, and respond to inquiries and requests.
- Lead recruitment and selection processes, manage staff performance, assign work, administer discipline, and recommend merit increases.
- Offer expert advice on municipal issues and provide strategic recommendations to senior management.
What you bring to the team
Leadership Experience:
- Strategic Leadership: You provide direction to diverse, multi-disciplinary teams and effectively schedule work in alignment with corporate and divisional priorities.

- Compliance Oversight: You ensure adherence to legislative statutes, collective agreements, and ministry policies, directives, and guidelines.

Technical Expertise:
- Infrastructure Knowledge: You are capable of interpreting and applying relevant legislation, policies, specifications and standards pertaining to infrastructure improvements including highway operations and drainage works in municipalities and unincorporated areas.
- Digital Proficiency: You are proficient in software tools including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, email, and internet/intranet platforms.
- Financial Acumen: You apply forecasting and accounting practices to manage budgets, review proposals, and adjust financial plans across multiple programs.
Program Management:
- Budget Management: You develop and oversee budgets, approve expenditures, and procure goods and services in accordance with financial directives.
- Policy Compliance: You ensure program operations comply with applicable legislation, policies, and collective agreements.
- Analytical Thinking: You demonstrate strong problem-solving and analytical skills to support effective program delivery.
Communications and Relationship Management:
- Stakeholder Engagement: You build and maintain relationships with colleagues, municipal officials, contractors, and external vendors.
- Negotiation Skills: You apply effective communication and negotiation techniques to resolve issues and support project delivery.
- Written Communication: You produce clear and professional written materials, including reports, recommendations, and presentations.
