About the role

Occupational Therapist – Maternity Leave Coverage / Contractor Position

Location: Ottawa-based; virtual work option available.

Type: Permanent or Temporary part-time with flexible end date; also open to independent contractors

Hours: Flexible with caseload and OT availability; est. 20-29 hours per week.

About Us

Modern OT is a community-based occupational therapy practice servicing Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec. Established in 1998, Modern OT has grown to a team with more than 35 OTs and other professionals that offer in-home, workplace, in-clinic, virtual and group therapy services from our clinics in Ottawa, Kingston, and Pembroke, Ontario. In 2022, Modern OT partnered with Lifemark Health Group, which has led to further expansion of services offered to clients including the rehabilitation program for Canadian Veterans. Modern OT is committed to bettering the lives of our clients by addressing their mental and physical health needs using innovative, evidence-based and client-centered approaches in occupational therapy.

The Opportunity:

We are currently seeking a skilled Occupational Therapist to join our team on a maternity leave coverage or contract basis. This is a flexible position with the potential for ongoing work beyond the employee’s leave, depending on evolving client needs.

This role can involve working directly with clients in the community, in clinic, or virtually. Caseloads include a range of functional assessments and treatment interventions.

Special Consideration will be given to candidates with experience with mental health and psychotherapy. We can offer psychotherapy supervision through our dedicated Clinical Leadership Team to assist with professional development and regular practice support in this area.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
  • Mental health OT and/or OT Psychotherapy experience
  • Clinical experience is an asset in areas such as brain injury/neurological rehabilitation, mental health, musculoskeletal/orthopaedic injury, home safety, ergonomics and/or return to work.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle for community appointments.
  • Bilingualism - French and English are assets but not required.
