Facilities Management is responsible for the planning, development, engineering, construction, operation, maintenance and stewardship of all the buildings, infrastructure, sites and services within Western’s campus community, and related off-campus sites. Our integrated team provides excellence in creating and maintaining Western’s facilities, and in serving the community.
Key Goals of the Unit:
- Support campus-wide requirements for routine, emergency and preventative repairs and maintenance of Western’s buildings and infrastructure
- Support the provision of safe and well-maintained parking and transiting infrastructure for the campus community and visitors to Western
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for Western’s operational, academic and research activities
- Leac new construction and renovation work at Western; oversee budgets and timelines on projects from inception to completion
- Support of Western’s sustainability commitments to reduce emissions 45 percent by 2030, and by achieving net-zero emissions by 2050
##Responsibilities
Facilities Management's Building Services team is responsible for the general, safety cleanliness, maintenance and reporting of maintenance deficiencies within the specified areas of either campus or residence functioning.
We are seeking 10 summer students to assist with this work.
General Duties:
- Supports maintaining the cleanliness of the selective floors or areas of the buildings in support of summer housing and conference services
- Essential duties vary based on the day, condition of the building, available assistance and co-worker absence
- To provide a clean, safe and professionally maintained facility
Specific Duties:
- Garbage, waste and recycling removal
- Event set ups (including the movement of furniture) and pre- and post-event cleaning
- Support room turnovers, cleaning and linen inventory movement (in and out)
- Replenishing conference supplies in rooms, including but not limited to toilet paper, cups, soap, bedspreads, pillows
Qualifications
Education:
- Currently enrolled in post-secondary studies and returning full-time to post-secondary studies in the Fall
Experience:
- Preference will be given to those with previous experience with customer service, professional cleaning duties and hands-on physical labour
Skills, Abilities & Expertise:
- Able to meet the physical demands of the roll: Lift, bend, twist, turn, push, pull, walk, crouch, kneel, pinch, grasp, climb and reach repetitively
- Ability to work independtly and in a team environment
- Listen fully and respond courteously to instructions, questions and comments
- Establish a rapport with customers, leaders and peers, maintaining professional behaviour
- Proven attention to detail, efficient and well-organized
- Preferred: knowledge of Western University's campus and the Division of Facilities Management
