Veterinarian Neurologist

Compensation: $180,000 to $250,000 CAD plus additional rewards

Vancouver Animal Emergency and Referral Centre is welcoming a Board Certified Veterinary Neurologist to join our specialty referral (internal medicine, critical care, surgery, radiology, ophthalmology & oncology) and 24-hour emergency practice in Vancouver, British Columbia. The ideal candidate will have a positive, collegial demeanor, excellent communication skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for collaboration with specialists and emergency doctors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Exceptional Patient Care: Manage, monitor, and deliver high-quality care for a wide range of neurological cases, with a focus on achieving the best possible outcomes for each patient
- Client Communication: Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, clearly communicating updates on their pets' progress, treatment plans, and next steps with empathy and professionalism
- Team Collaboration: Actively support and foster our team-based medicine approach by collaborating closely with specialty services, technicians, and fellow veterinary associates
- Medical Record Keeping: Maintain accurate, detailed, and timely medical records to support continuity of care and ensure compliance with best practices
- Schedule Management: Monitor and coordinate appointment schedules in partnership with your specialty service administrator. Ensure appointments are confirmed with clients, adjust as needed for cancellations, and prioritize scheduling for urgent cases
- Referring Community Engagement: Engage with the referring veterinary community on a quarterly basis to share knowledge, strengthen relationships, and provide updates on services, learnings and patient outcomes
Qualifications
- Neurology Residency: Completion of a recognized Neurology residency program
- Board Certification: Board-certified or board-eligible in Veterinary Neurology (ACVIM or ECVN)
- Veterinary Credentials: DVM (or equivalent) with eligibility for licensure in the province of British Columbia
- Client-Centered Care: A strong commitment to delivering exceptional client service, driven by a genuine compassion for pets and their families
- Mentorship & Leadership: Skilled in mentoring and guiding junior veterinary professionals, contributing to a positive, growth-oriented team culture.

As a member of VCA Canada, VAERC is a rapidly growing Emergency and Specialty Hospital with a robust Imaging Center (CT, MRI, C-Arm, and Radiography). VAERC has had a 4 decade presence in Vancouver and we moved to our state of the art facility in July 2016. Our 12500 square foot hospital is well equipped with the technology one would expect in a specialty practice.
