About the role
Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Temporary Full-time Team Lead – SAP Basis to join our innovative Internal Customer Experience IT Optimization team. Our IT professionals play a vital role in ensuring the safe and efficient delivery of life-saving products and services across the country. As the organization continues to evolve, modern software development practices and automation are foundational to our IT strategy and central to meeting the demands of a fast-changing environment. The organization is currently undertaking a multi-year initiative to migrate from our current on-premise SAP ECC systems to a cloud-based SAP S/4 HANA environment. The Internal Customer Experience IT Optimization team enables agile ways of working and supports teams in delivering well-managed, user-focused technology solutions. This team plays a dual role by enabling optimization services across development teams while also managing a portfolio of applications and critical technologies. Reporting to the Manager, IT Optimization, you will lead a team of SAP Basis analysts and consultants responsible for supporting critical IT infrastructure and SAP solutions. You will oversee technical upgrades, system enhancements, and the delivery of new SAP functionality while providing leadership and direction to the Basis team The Basis team will work closely with the S/4 HANA Conversion Project team to enable a smooth transition to the new environment and ensure all requirements for a stable operational environment have been met.
Formula for success
Leveraging your skills in leadership and talent development, you will lead a team of SAP Basis analysts defining objectives, establishing priorities, monitoring performance, providing feedback and identifying development opportunities for team members. Utilizing your skills in SAP Basis administration, you will oversee the implementation, upgrades, refreshes, and ongoing support of SAP environments. Applying your skills in infrastructure management, you will ensure SAP systems are stable, secure, highly available, scalable, monitored, and performing optimally. Drawing on your skills in stakeholder engagement, you will serve as the primary contact for initiatives requiring SAP Basis team support, collaborating across technical and business teams. Leveraging your skills in technical analysis, you will participate in design discussions and recommend improvements to SAP systems. Utilizing your skills in service delivery and vendor management, you will establish best practices and track SLAs, metrics, and system performance including monitoring the performance of external service providers and vendors. Applying your adaptability skills, you will perform other related duties as required to support evolving business and operational needs.
Desired education and skills
Post-secondary level education in a relevant discipline from a recognized academic institution, preferably a University Degree or College Diploma. SAP certifications are desirable. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. At least 8 years of relevant and practical work experience in SAP Basis, preferably with several years leading SAP teams in supervisory capacity.
Experience with SAP HANA, S/4HANA , SAP BTP in Cloud or Hybrid environments
SAP Basis skills and experience in SAP ERP, CRM, , Portal, Fiori and Netweaver systems Experience in an Oracle RAC Cluster environment is required. Experience with SAP Cloud ALM and Solution Manager is required. Experience with AIX Unix or Linux is required. Experience with High Availability Solutions is required. Experience with Hyperscaler Cloud Computing technologies (i.e. AWS, Azure,) is desirable Project management experience is desirable. Excellent communication skills.

This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at 2540 Lancaster Road, Ottawa, Ontario, 100 Parkshore Drive, Brampton, Ontario, or 67 College Street, Toronto, Ontario, 40% of the time/2 days of the week. You will work Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours per week, 7.5 hours per day. If you are located outside of Ottawa, you may be expected to travel to our office location in Ottawa – 2540 Lancaster Rd, twice quarterly for in-person team meetings or when required.
