Department/Unit/Program Description

The Department of Nutrition Services recognizes the patients we service as our primary client. We direct our department resources toward their care by providing high quality, safe, nutritious food along with high standards of nutritional care by qualified nutritional staff. The principle function which allows the department to meet our purpose is through patient satisfaction by offering a variety of quality food and excellent service to our patients. We produce food under safe, sanitary conditions and foster a multidisciplinary approach with all departments in the best interest of patient care.

Position Summary

Nutrition Services is currently looking for a Temporary Part-Time Food Production Assistant to join their team.

Effective Date: As soon as possible

Ending on or Before Date: September 20, 2026

Essential Qualifications

Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent Certificate of Qualification as a Cook or an equivalent combination of two years recent experience doing large quantity food cooking and willingness to be Certified Current Food Handlers Training & Certification and must maintain certification Demonstrated ability to adjust recipes and follow directions Demonstrated knowledge of Portion Control, W.H.M.I.S.–department specific, H.A.C.C.P. (Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point) Must be able to fulfill physical requirements of the job, as per Physical Demands Analysis

Preferred Qualifications

Must be available to work eight (8) and four (4) hour shifts (days /evenings), including weekdays, weekends and statutory holidays. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.
