About the Opportunity
Revenue Recognition: Lead the revenue recognition process in accordance with [GAAP/IFRS] and industry best practices. Oversee monthly and quarterly revenue close processes, ensuring accurate reporting of sales, commissions, and related costs. Ensure alignment between revenue recognition, commission structures, and overall financial reporting. Manage the timing and recognition of revenue in complex contractual arrangements and recurring sales models. Perform detailed reviews of contracts and sales agreements to ensure proper accounting treatment for revenue recognition. Coordinate with sales and accounting teams to ensure accurate forecasting and financial reporting.
General Financial Oversight: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports, highlighting key metrics and trends. Reconcile revenue and commission-related balances to ensure proper financial tracking. Assist in developing financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to streamline financial operations. Work closely with senior leadership to support business decisions and optimize financial performance. Assist in preparing for audits, including providing necessary documentation for revenue and payroll audits. Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations regarding payroll and revenue recognition.
Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve payroll and revenue recognition processes to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline payroll processing and financial reporting. Collaborate with IT and software vendors to maintain and optimize payroll and accounting systems.
Skills Exceptional attention to detail with a high level of accuracy. Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills. Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc.).
About You CPA or other relevant certifications preferred. 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on payroll and revenue recognition. Prior experience in managing payroll for a sales team, including commissions and bonus structures. Strong understanding of revenue recognition principles (ASC 606 or equivalent). Experience with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar). Solid understanding of accounting principles and regulatory requirements
