Bardel Entertainment, a leading animation studio in the accounting industry, is seeking a talented and detail-oriented 3D Modeler to join our team. As a 3D Modeler, you will play a crucial role in the creation of computer-generated models, textures, and assets for our animated productions. In this position, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of passionate artists and contribute to the success of high-profile television shows, films, and commercials. What You’ll Do

Core Responsibilities

  • Create high-quality 3D models that meet artistic and technical standards.

  • Develop clean and efficient topology for models, considering rigging and animation requirements to ensure smooth deformation and performance.

  • Work on Modeling tasks, from simple to moderately difficult, including organic and hard-surface modeling, blend shapes (if applicable), and translating 2D concepts into 3D models.

  • Interpret and adjust work based on notes from leads, supervisors, and directors.

Collaboration & Workflow

  • Collaborate with leadership, production, and team members to solve problems and share insights.

  • Engage in dailies, rounds, and team discussions to contribute to creative and technical improvements.

  • Adhere to pipeline workflows and technical requirements for seamless integration into the production process.

  • For senior artists, actively mentor junior team members by providing constructive feedback, guidance, and support.

Time Management & Communication

  • Maintain consistency in quality while meeting production needs.

  • Manage time effectively, working with production to stay on schedule.

  • Keep the team and production staff informed about progress, challenges, and solutions.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring

Experience

  • Previous production experience as a Modeler (or similar) in TV series and featurette animation.

  • For junior roles, a portfolio as demonstrated below

Skills & Communication

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively promote solutions, share knowledge, and incorporate feedback.

Portfolio Requirements

A portfolio that demonstrates:

  • Examples of 3D models that showcase strong form, proportion, and attention to detail.

  • Wireframe views highlighting clean, animation-ready topology optimized for rigging and deformation.

  • Basic understanding of texturing workflows

  • High-resolution sculpts in ZBrush or Blender that display an understanding of fine details, surface texture, and realism/stylization.

  • Models created from 2D concept art, showing the ability to interpret designs into 3D while maintaining appeal.

  • Clear demonstration of skills using Maya, ZBrush, Photoshop, and any additional relevant tools (Blender, Renderman, etc.).

Benefits

Location: British Columbia, BC

Pay Range: CAD $1,200 - $1,700 per week
