The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is seeking a part-time, contract (1 year) Advanced Practice Clinical Leader (APCL), IYS Clinical Competencies for the pan-Canadian Integrated Youth Services (IYS) Collaboration Centre. Reporting to the Collaboration Centre Scientific Director, the successful candidate will provide national leadership in designing and implementing an IYS Clinical Competency Framework and training program that establishes the minimum clinical knowledge, portable skills, abilities, values/attitudes, and behaviours required of all IYS providers. This role will bridge the gap between research and professional practice into a practical, consistent, tiered roadmap of core, transferable/role-agnostic, and role-specific competencies, supported by online tools, educational resources, and training modules, to strengthen provincial and territorial systems, promote professional development, and ensure youth across Canada receive consistent, high-quality, equitable clinical care.
The APCL will lead a national environmental scan of existing clinical competency frameworks, convene and facilitate an advisory group of youth, service providers, and system leaders, and oversee the development of a three-tiered clinical competency framework. Working with vendors and partners, the APCL will produce training modules, reflective practice tools, supervision prompts, and a harmonization crosswalk mapping provincial and territorial standards to the national baseline. The APCL will contribute to supports for students and early-career service providers by ensuring the framework and training tools are accessible and applicable at entry-to-practice. The role will ensure cultural and linguistic adaptations, including Indigenous governance and French and priority language translations, and will support pilots in IYS networks to evaluate adoption and outcomes. Working with evaluation and implementation team members, a quality improvement process will be embedded into the framework and training program to ensure ongoing feedback, evaluation, and iteration, strengthening its relevance and impact. The APCL will work with the team to share findings through knowledge mobilization, and on competency development, training, and implementation across the IYS landscape.
Job Requirements
The successful candidate will hold a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology and be registered in good standing with a professional psychology regulatory body (e.g., College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario). A minimum of 5 years’ experience in youth mental health, substance use, and integrated youth services is required, with demonstrated experience in developing in leading development and/or implementation of competency frameworks, training programs, and clinical standards. Candidates must bring advanced synthesis and writing skills, proven experience in equity-informed practice, interprofessional collaboration, and the ability to convene and facilitate diverse partners, including youth and community leaders. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills are essential. Bilingualism (French/English) and/or proficiency in other languages will be considered an asset.
