$23.50/hour
STATUS:
Temporary Full Time Seasonal (April-September)
Position Summary
The Pool Programmer is responsible for the coordination, administration, and delivery of the programming at the Pass Pool including day to day oversight of Guest Services staffing, scheduling, programming, and cash receipting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
-
Responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of all aquatic programs and services including swimming lessons, classes, bookings, events and other programs.

Ensure the Pass Pool offers high quality program delivery with excellent customer service.
-
Oversees and ensures that Guest Services staff are trained and up to date on registration and cash receipting processes, policies, and programs and provide a great guest experience.

Creates work schedules for staff, makes adjustments and fills vacancies as required.

Monitors and provides direction to the Assistant Manager of Pass Powderkeg and Pool and Sr. staff on programming and pool objectives.

Responds to inquiries, complaints and concerns from the general public, participants and parents. Communicates any complex issues that require resolution with the Assistant Manager or Manager as needed.

Organizes regular staff meetings and in-service training.

Assists with related policy and procedure development pertaining to the operation of the pool.

Assist with the staff orientation process to include the employee’s specific job responsibilities, how to ensure public and staff safety and positive customer service interactions.

Enforce general and pool safety programs and brings concerns forward to the Manager.

Maintains accurate records, reports and statistics relating to aquatic programming and pool operation.

Works with managers to ensure staff resources to meet the pool program schedules.
-
Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills
- Knowledge of all applicable safety procedures and legislation affecting aquatic programs.
- Skilled and experienced with supervising staff including building positive working relationships and trust, managing conflict and strong organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills are required to handle and resolve customer enquiries and complaints.
- Strong organization and planning skills.
- Knowledge of recreational programming fundamentals.
- Ability to operate a variety of office equipment and machines such as point-of-sale system, printers, scanners, debit machine, photocopiers, and telephone system.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work flexible hours including weekends.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Education and Experience
This position requires the following minimum qualifications:

Intermediate First Aid Level C with CPR and AED
-
Class 5 Driver’s License
-
Programming experience
-
Supervisory experience
-
Experienced with Alberta Public Pool Standards and guidance rules for operation of a public pool in Alberta.

Strong computer skills
The following would be considered an asset:
-
Two-year diploma in Recreation Studies or a related discipline
-
Pool Operator Level 1 or 2
Independence and Scope of Impact
Decisions and problems are varied and require the incumbent to use judgement and discretion within policy, codes, and/or legislation. Supervision can be consulted in cases where several options are available. The incumbent is expected to work within the parameters of the budget provided, policies, and procedures.
Contacts
Internal – Regular contacts are maintained with the Manager involving the exchange of information, coordination or to consult on operational matters. Occasional contact occurs with other municipal departments, mostly with respect to sharing information and acquiring assistance with finance or resource coordination.
External – Regular contact with the public, community groups, and volunteers involving the exchange of information for planning and delivering programs, services, and events.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Schedules, and provides direction employees delivering programs.
The employee will be required to supervise and provide advice and guidance to other employees.
Working Conditions
The work is performed at the Pass Pool both outdoor and in the office and involves exposure to various weather conditions. This position requires work in evenings and on weekends.
