Position Requirements
- Candidates must be certified by the Ontario College of Teachers (in good standing). Candidates with Transitional Certificates are welcome to apply.
- Candidates must hold qualifications to teach within at least two divisions (i.e. Primary/Junior, Junior/Intermediate).
- Professional skills and attitudes, including lived experiences, skill sets, backgrounds and varied work/volunteer experience that may be considered valuable to the position.
- Experience working with diverse communities and/or in high-priority schools locally or abroad.
- Commitment to building inclusive learning and working environments where every student sees themselves reflected in the curriculum, classroom, and schools.
- Availability and commitment to work a minimum of 10 full days per school year.
- Additional AQs and languages considered an asset.
Qualifications In addition to the above, the qualifications listed below reflect our current classrooms' evolution and needs. The following are Additional Basic Qualifications (ABQs) and Additional Qualifications (AQs) that HWDSB is currently looking to add to our Occasional Teacher roster:
- Music - Instrumental (intermediate)
- French as a Second Language
- Special Education (Specialist)
- Teaching English-Language Learners/English as a Second Language
Hourly Rate Daily rate of pay starts at $291.87 (includes 4% vacation pay).
Individual wage for Long-Term Occasional work is based on QECO Rating Statement and Grid Placement.
